  • Conducted IP landscape analysis, identified technology white spaces, and aligned IP strategy with technology strategy for focused growth. Launched new IP monetization initiatives that produced $6.3M in revenues within the first year.
  • Collaborated with Automotive Application Services Business Unit to define Connected Car Services strategy for Map services, AHA Radio, Telematics, and UBI. Consulted and prepared the group for independent 3 rd -party audit concerning data privacy and security.

  • Collaborated with Comcast, Time Warner and Concurrent to produce and demonstrate World’s first end- to-end tru2way technology at CES in Las Vegas in 2004.
  • Actively participated in standardization activities at CableLabs, ATSC, CEA and Sun Microsystems Java Community Process.
  • Developed a ubiquitous a peer-to-peer networking system using Distributed Hash Table (DHT) overlays to support instant messaging and presence, multimedia messaging, voice over IP, video streaming, file transfer and peer casting - developed CE profile applications to demonstrate these functionalities. Key technologies used include: P2P-SIP, NAT traversal (STUN/TURN/ICE), Internet Co-ordinate System, P2P Presence, Media Relays, Adaptive voice/video codecs, Web services, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Architected and designed a residential gateway providing web-based device control, auto device discovery and provisioning, SNMP-based device management tools, and IEEE-1394 device drivers and AVC command library for AV control. Transferred technology to many European telcos (Swiss Telecom, Telia Research).
  • Architected a Residential Intranet with an ATM/SONET core and ADSL access technology. The Intranet employed an IP-based virtual network for Internet Access and Intranet high performance applications and employed a proprietary QoS layer for support of uncompromised quality Video-On- Demand and other multimedia applications. The QoS layer employed a unique real-time deadline priority queuing based on virtual path reservation scheme. DSM-CC U/N session control mechanism was architected for proprietary QoS sessions.
  • Developed an IP-Gateway mechanism on ADSL access multiplexer, thereby creating the first in the world ADSL access router. Currently hold the patent on the design.
  • Architected and prototyped a new Element Management Layer for management and operations Support of XDSL based systems, including SNMP interface to HP OpenView and the world’s first Management Information Base (MIB) for representation of XDSL systems.
  • Technology was transferred to Telia Research (Sweden), Italtel (Italy), Gulf Multimedia (Saudi Arabia), Batelco (Bahrain), National Institute for Standards and Technologies (NIST).
  • Demonstrated the technology in trade shows like TINA-C World Wide Demo at Telecom’95 in Geneva in collaboration with 5 major European telcos, and at Asia Telecom’97 in Singapore.
  • Conducted field trials and experiments in collaboration with various international and U.S government agencies. The system installed in the trials ranged from small (few lines) to medium (tens of lines) in some cases field deployed to be used by real telephone company customers.
