Responsibilities:

  • Joined project as a hands on architect and lead developer to develop an alternative solution to an at-risk GDW (Global Datawarehouse) project.
  • Work involved discussions with SAP experts to explore alternate data sources, ensuring all attributes and measures needed for reports were available and extracted. Designed pre-load data cleansing and data file manipulation programs and tested data files for quality, accuracy and validity.
  • Developed dimensional data model in Erwin ensuring corporate naming and data type standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Created an innovative project plan to deal with slippage of upstream modules and data source uncertainty and yet deliver project on time.
  • This was achieved by creating an independent Datamart to source these new reports.
  • We initially loaded this with data from old AMDOCS CARES system so report development could continue without having to wait for upstream modules to go into production.
  • This scheme also came in handy when decision was made to change source from replicated ODS to XML files.
  • Work involved creating data model in ER Studio, report metadata in Framework Manager and developing Cognos reports.
  • The reports were written to file system using Cognos Burst feature. Implemented the CPNI security compliance feature by writing Java programs to retrieve bursted Cognos reports, group them by customer, zip, encrypt and email to customer.
  • Helped QA team achieve considerable cost and time saving by writing automated test programs in Java to help them verify accuracy of reports by comparing it to actual phone bill. This program parsed out Subscriber, Usage and Charges from bill PDF file and compared it with those on the report.
  • Once this project was completed, helped in designing complex Framework Manager Model for EDW with multiple subject areas.

  • Functioned as Development Team Lead and Architect to design and implement real-time Datamart (CDPS) for CME's Clearing Division. CDPS reads trades in real-time via Golden Gate, persists them and provides real time trade and volume information to the market and web site.
  • It is also used for CME’s trades and volume reporting, providing trade position information for end of day settlement cycles.
  • Successful implementation and timely delivery of this project achieved sun-setting of mainframe based end of cycle processing.

  • Provided client with software architecture document about existing system, new ODS layout and data load strategy.
  • Using Erwin created the data model and provided size estimates.
  • Using SQLServer Replication set up transactional replication for high volume transactional tables, snap shot replication for lookup tables.
  • After successful implementation of ODS client also requested additional work on migrating reports from Crystal 7.5 to 8.5.
  • Using parameterized SQL and using Crystal functions consolidated reports to a 3:1 ratio.
