  • Worked on the NewsWatch application, a sophisticated market intelligence tool (written in vb), designed to extract, display and provide alerts on
  • events effecting the financial markets. Created new enhanced version of NewsWatchwith these enhancements:
  • Time-sensitive background color changes: Alerts can now be displayed with two colors to clearly identify the most recent news headlines within an alert.
  • Spacing: NewsWatch 15.8 adds a 1.5 and 2.0 spacing option to its previous single-spaced format.
  • Composite display: Traders and investors can consolidate all their active alerts into a single window. Each headline is tagged with the name of the alert in the first layout field.
  • Saving Layouts: NewsWatch offers a number of different fields, including Vendor Code, Hot News indicator, Stock Ticker, Time, Date, Exchanges, and Headline. While traders and investors has had the ability to make these fields larger or smaller, in 15.8 these display adjustments will now be saved.

  • Responsible for the Newsware system. dis system provides client firms with access to major news sources with customizable filtering to match trading needs.There are three Newsware formats:
  • NewsWatch a sophisticated market intelligence tool designed to extract, display and provide alerts on events effecting the financial markets.
  • NewsWare.com a web-based (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and classic ASP) version of the NewsWatch application. (Wrote and maintained dis application front end(UI) and back end). Created json objects from the AJAX responses)
  • NewsWare API a News API tailored and designed to meet the high standards of the financial markets where milliseconds count. Available in many languages. ( wrote and maintained Java version)
  • Responsible for maintenance, enhancements, and upgrades to the above systems
  • Enhanced systems to make code more structured and object oriented to provide for easier maintenance.
  • Separated the API code from the client code and created an ActiveX control for NewsWatch to communicate with the NewsWare servers to provide for easier maintenance and to set the groundwork for additional access to NewsWare.
  • Packaged dis ActiveX control/APIs for customer distribution as a separate “NewsWare API” product. dis product was successfully sold to many clients, giving them the capability to customize the presentation of news and integrate the power of NewsWatch with their own in-house proprietary applications.
  • Took the initiative and coded these APIs in java, creating a java bean.
  • Did programming on the backend system, which is coded in C++ (Visual Studio) and SQL, running on a Windows server and using a SQL Server database.
  • Wrote and updated parsers to parse the vendor data headline, story body and tags. Parsers were coded in C++ (Visual Studio).
