- Send analytic reports every morning forecasting storage and supply/demand balance, in total and broken down by components and regions. Charts and tables include weather forecasts, differences between daily, yearly, and current vs multi - year data, fuel type breakdowns, etc…
- Built a 3 part data warehouse solution to replaced PetroChina’s excel-based, largely manual processes:
- Python and SSIS scripts run independently to load a SQL database with daily supply, demand, power, weather, storage, and price data from a dozen different sources, and a summary email goes out in the morning verifying the integrity of the night’s run
- A structure of database views aggregates the raw data along with the coefficients of the most recent ResComm, Industrial, and Generation demand regressions to give us a dynamic, forward-looking supply/demand view
- SSRS formats data snapshots into graphic reports, and a server sends emails to traders. I use a built-in SQL data visualization tool, but the structure of the underlying database gives us the flexibility to transition to Tableau or Microsoft BI, or to export to excel
- Created interactive weather tool where traders go to a website and graphically compare the most recent WSI forecasts with any historical forecast for cities or regions
