Developer

Role and Responsibilities

  • The primary roles and responsibilities were to determine the Root cause for the Performance and Availability issues and to provide recommendations to improve the Performance, Scalability and availability of the FA system. I was assigned the role to support the project from off shore and provide the Performance Analysis. I have analyzed application with help of Dot Trace, a profiler tool and SPs in Query Analyzer. Then I conducted a Load test for verifying network latency with different bandwidth and also for identifying the content type of IIS 5.0 to find out whether gzip.dll and compflt.dll were used or not. I then reviewed the .ASPX code of the concerned page where I found the VIEWSTATE to be exceptionally large 1.3 MB . For alleviating the problem, I added VIEWSTATE compression class to the application which reduced the size from 1.3 MB to a mere 60 Kb. Due to these changes the time for the transaction came down to 2.8 seconds which was well within the requirement of 6 seconds
  • Some of my key responsibilities include:
  • Interaction with onsite project coordinator to identify the obstruction of the application.
  • Running Load runner script to check HTML header.
  • Profiling application with Dot Trace to look up the object invocation count and time taken by individual method.
  • Develop piece of code to compress the VIEWSTATE as well change the configuration of IIS so that html text will be qzip type

Environment: C .NET, Windows server 2003, SQL server 2005, Visual Studio 2005, Dot Trace, Load Runner 8
