Description:

The Data Analyst should have strong facilitation and communication expertise to work with cross-functional project teams to help the business achieve their objectives by evaluating and designing functional solutions to articulated business challenges and opportunities that are in compliance with architectural standards.  Candidate will analyze existing data structures (mainframe VSAM files and legacy databases), identify and document data requirements for modeling legacy data structures in new relational databases, perform data mapping to identify common fields appearing in multiple data sources, profile domains of values and identify anomalies and potential data quality issues.  Work with business users and IT to determine data dictionary information - attribute names and definitions, data type, length, etc. Identify and document cardinality and parent-child relationships between logical sets of data.  The candidate will work with business users and IT to determine data dictionary information - attribute names and definitions.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Assist all business partners, business analysts, business relationship managers to analyze changes in requirements and provide solutions for enhancements to all applications
  • Use a combination of process modeling, data modeling, data analysis, information engineering and sampling to ensure concise and comprehensive requirements
  • Define best fit implementation methodology based on best practices
  • Maintain working knowledge of current state software development tools and methods, software testing methodologies, and research emerging trends in application product development space
  • Mentoring System Analysts and others on the project team
  • Work with all stakeholders being impacted by business system and/or business process changes, where applicable, to ensure all changes are managed back into the business in a way that minimizes impact to the customer
  • In the spirit of continuous improvement, challenge the status quo and challenge others to rethink current processes, structures, policies, methodologies, and assumptions related to role of System Analyst Sr.
Skills:

Required:
  • Strong background in data profiling, mapping and analysis
  • Working knowledge of relational database structures
  • Working knowledge of mainframe COBOL/copybook data structures
  • Developing and implementing data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize efficiency and quality
  • Acquiring data from primary and secondary sources and mapping of data
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Experience writing functional and non-functional requirements for software projects or complete applications
  • Information Engineering & Sampling
  • Business Process Modeling &  Redesign
  • Requirements Analysis
  • Systems Development Life Cycle
  • SQL
  • Knowledge of financial systems / terminology
  • Knowledge of Systems integration
  • Strong logical and reasoning abilities
  • Able to identify and suggest potential integrations to enable business process automation
Preferred:
  • Financial Services industry experience
  • Experience working on an agile project team and agile methodologies
Experience: 4-6 years’ of related experience              
 
Education Requirements for the Position:
  • The minimum qualification required for the performance of the above specialty occupation duties is a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering.
