Job Description:

This position is located in the District of Columbia, Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) at 655 15th Street NW Washington, DC. The Senior Voice Engineer supports the DC-Net program. Senior Voice Engineer will be responsible for designing and

developing cisco unified communication architectural enhancements, troubleshoot unified communication issues, create functional and technical design documentation and establish standards to correspond to engineering specifications and industry best practices.

 

As part of the OCTO’s Unified Communications and Collaboration team, this position’s responsibilities are to perform requirement gathering, analysis, planning, design, implementation, documentation, assessment, and management of the cisco unified communication infrastructure that are aligned with District’s overall mission, goals, standards, and IT strategy. 

 

Design and implement Cisco unified communication solutions to meet the business requirements supporting District’s next generation unified communication infrastructure.

 

Troubleshoots problems with complex unified communications architectures in multi-vendor, multi-platform converged network; administers overall cisco unified communications and video collaboration environments. Has extensive troubleshooting (tier 3+) skills supporting end-users and high profile clients. Evaluates vendor proposals, write technical documentation and provide and perform end-user training when needed.

 

Develop Cisco Unified Communication architectural strategy, including technology standardization and modernization for all District’s unified communication enterprise and hosted unified communications initiatives:

•           Participate in the technical and business domain discussions relative to future Unified Communicaton and Video Cobllabriation architecture direction.

•           Perform gap analysis and suggest solutions.

•           Develop reference architecture and strategic roadmaps.

•           Gather and analyze data and develop requirements at project level.

•           Provide Tier3 support to the Operations and Engineering teams for all DC-Net Unified Communication and Video Collaboration products and platforms.

iii.        Detailed Responsibilities Include:

•           Administer, maintain, and support OCTO’s existing and new products and services related to voice and video that include hardware appliances, software, and cloud based systems.

•           Provide architectural support to the existing Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure.

•           Provide senior level support to the existing UC Operations and Engineering team as acting as a final escalation point for issues.

•           Participate in customer meetings and provide timely feedback and updates to customer and project managers.

•           Adhere to policies and procedures (i.e. Change Control) and ensure the products are services delivered are in line with current standards.

•           Assess and recommend technical solutions based on industry best practices to ensure integrity of District’s UC&C infrastructure and security posture are maintained.

•           Maintain flexibility and adjust to shifting priorities of Governement organization’s requests.

•           Document and train individuals in support of District’s voice and video infrastcuture.
