Job Description:


OCTO is seeking an experienced Business System Enterprise Architect (EA) with 16 plus years of experience designing systems and software application environments.

 

The enterprise architect (EA) will create enterprise level strategic business and technology solutions and work with technical specialists to devise and define strategic direction and solutions. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of business applications, business process modeling, and architecture tools.  The EA will work with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of the Office of Risk Management’s (ORM) strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets. The role of the enterprise architect will be to take this knowledge and ensure that the business and IT are in alignment. The enterprise architect will link the business mission, strategy, and processes of ORM to its IT strategy, and document this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of ORM will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.

The enterprise architect will operate across organizational and computing "silos" to drive common approaches and expose information assets and processes across the enterprise. The goal is to deliver an architecture that supports the most efficient and secure IT environment meeting ORM's business needs.

 

Core duties associated with the role are as follows:

  • Alignment of IT strategy and planning with ORM’s business goals.
  • Optimization of information management through an understanding of evolving business needs and technology capabilities.
  • Identify system inter-dependencies and develop migration plans (“as is” / “to be”)
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and processes for inclusion in the technology road map
  • Promotion of shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flow. Ensure that projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from each other and business and IT strategies.
  • Work with a project team to provide an enterprise solution that is scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with ever changing business needs.
  • Risk Management of information and IT assets through appropriate standards and security policies.
  • Direct or indirect involvement in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of Information Technology within the enterprise.
  • Build employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirements specifications.
  • Provides consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist of most phases of systems analysis, while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience; or a current Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
