Job Description: 16+ years of experience as a mainframe-based ADABAS Systems Programmer and Project Leader.

Program Summary:

OCTO’s Integrated Platform Services (IPS) Department provides “mainframe-based” application hosting, and server-based cross-platform workload automation to several District Agencies.   IPS’ offerings include Virtual environments, Operating Systems, Network Connectivity, Online Transaction Processing, Databases, Security Administration, 24x7 Monitoring, Application diagnostic support, Performance and Tuning, Capacity Planning, and Disaster Recovery.

The IPS Systems Programming group currently consists of seven systems programmers supporting seven Production and Development LPARS, 5 of which are z/OS and two are VM running Linux for System Z.  The group manages 58 CICS regions, 8 DB2 subsystems, and 4 ADABAS regions.

The operating environment consists of two similarly configured data centers each of which contain an IBM z13 processor, an automated tape library, and a disk subsystem.

CONTRACT JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates, plans, installs, and maintains z/OS-based ADABAS environments and associated Program Products.
• Develops, implements, maintains and enforces documented standards and procedures for the design, development, installation, modification, and documentation of assigned systems.
• Provides training for system products and procedures.
• Performs ADABAS upgrades.
• Performs, monitoring, maintenance, or reporting on real- time databases.
• Troubleshoots problems.
• Ensures project life-cycle is in compliance with District standards and procedures.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
