Job Description : General Account of Position

The Database Administrator's role is to work with Project team to complete Oracle 12C upgrade. This person may also be asked to assist with Oracle maintenance activities and other Oracle DBA tasks as needed.

Primary Responsibilities and Contributions
  • Lead project team to successfully upgrade Oracle instance from 11g to 12c.
  • Assist with testing and remediation as needed.
  • Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues as needed
  • Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements as needed
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for database recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Perform database transaction and security audits.
  • Provide detailed documentation for ongoing support and future upgrades.
  • Recommend best practices procedures to database developers and end-users.
  • Trouble-shoot Oracle database, server and tool problems as needed.

Education and Experience
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Eight plus years computer experience.
  • Five plus years administering Oracle databases
  • Good communication skills.
