Short Description:

The Test Engineer plans, constructs, and executes tests in accordance with the State of Maine Deployment Certification Policy for the purpose of certifying completeness, accuracy, and acceptability of the developed product. 

Complete Description:

The position requires a highly experienced, self motivated IT development Tester to develop test plans and use case scripts, processes and assist in the execution of these tests and documentation of the results of testing.  The positon will work with development staff as well as some outside vendors.  It is expected that the Tester will have or will gain significant business application knowledge. 

The tests include product tests, system tests, unit tests, load tests, volume tests, and network tests.

Test

Years of Relevant Experience: 5 plus years

Preferred Education: 4 year college degree or equivalent technical study

Role Description:

•Write Test Cases and Test Scripts for Functional Testing and Integration Testing.

•Anticipates, identifies, tracks, and resolves issues and risks affecting own work and work of the Test and/or Application Teams.  Develop contingency plans as necessary.

•Researches problems before approaching team members for assistance.

•Develops understanding of system business requirements supported by the Test team

•Assists Application Teams to plan and execute component and assembly tests.

•Participates in assembly or product test execution as required.

•Executes Test Scripts

•Use Toad to verify data in Oracle DB

•Write SQL queries to verify data

•Writes and verifies defects in Mantis

•Work on all efforts relating to testing and/or coordination of release control efforts.

•Plans and reviews test models for product test and release control (plans, data, and scripts).

•Plans product test with Functional Team Leads, team members, and the Program Manager.

•Directs work planning and the development of accurate estimates for Test Team activities as required.

•Ensures that test design remains within project scope.

•Communicates accurate and useful Test reports to Test Lead on a timely basis.

•Communicates accurate and useful status reports to Group Lead and other management on a timely basis.

•Develops options and recommendations to assist Test Team members in resolving issues.

•Communicates effectively with customers and software / hardware suppliers supporting the State as appropriate.

•Ensures that defined processes are followed.

•Contributes to efforts in developing and facilitating implementation of the Test Team goals and metrics.
