The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for administrating Oracle data analysis and database management in a team environment.
Complete Description:
The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for administrating Oracle databases. This position will be responsible to:
• Install, configure, upgrade and maintain database instances/servers
• Responsible for database backup and recovery procedures (RMAN), access security and database integrity, physical data storage design and data storage management
• Monitor database performance and space requirements
• Perform performance tuning
• Provide recommendations for tuning underperforming applications to increase performance (SQL Tuning, Index Tuning and Memory Tuning)
• Knowledgeable in data analysis and database management techniques
• Execution of all responsibilities with little direct supervision of Team Lead
• Administration and scripting experience in relative platform
• Author shell scripts to perform back up, restore, and monitoring tasks
• Anticipate and resolve issues specific to the team
• Determine time estimates and schedule for own work and resolve issues in a timely manner
• Highly skilled at database design, installations, conversions
• Troubleshoot and resolve support issues related to database, Oracle application server and the Oracle technology stack
• Manage and monitor the daily disaster recovery (DR) synchronization procedures and monitor the state of DR environments (Oracle Data Guard)
• Apply/migrate changes to development, test and production environments such as data changes, vendor-provided patches, technical/functional configuration changes, and modified reports, interfaces, customization, extensions and workflow objects
• Clone applications and databases between production and test.
• Monitor databases and Oracle application servers and respond to alerts
• Should be flexible to work in shifts and weekends on as needed basis in close co-ordination with onsite team as well as with end users.
Minimum of 5 years of experience. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of complicated tasks, may report directly to a project lead or manager.
Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of Oracle database administration, the majority of which should be in database administration in a large scale operation

Strong SQL Programming, preferably Oracle with the ability to write complex SQL queries

Oracle Performance Tuning Experience
Required 3 Years
Experience working in secure enterprise database environments

Experience with RMAN

Experience performing a full restore to an Oracle database from tape
Required 3 Years
Good understanding of the Software development lifecycle

Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems independently as well as in collaboration with a team

Experience with Oracle Database in Windows, Oracle in a Linux environment a plus
