Contractor employee will perform tasks on an as-needed basis, such as:
§ Configure, test and install building level switches.
§ Monitor the edge and core routers to identify and correct problems as they arise. Create VLANs as needed, configuring spanning-tree to balance production and research traffic. Configure and implement port security on LAN switches to ensure compliance with the established network policies.
§ Troubleshoot, identify and replace failing hardware and initiate a Cisco TAC case for replacement.
§ Install and provision wireless access points and manage the wireless controllers for a stable and efficient wireless network.
§ Add and remove IP’s and create ACL’s on the firewall to protect the MSU network.
§ Manage load balancing configurations in conjunction with the server administrators. Configure and manage Cisco Works and MARS and Snort to monitor and alert on network anomalies. Utilize the Packet Shaper for traffic shaping and filtering, and Visio for network documentation.
Contractor Employee Qualifications
§ 4 years of experience working in a large scale production Cisco network.
§ Experience configuring and managing Cisco routing and switching hardware running IOS and CATOS.
§ Experience with routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, HSRP, and LAN configuration to include VLANs, Spanning-Tree, Port Security, etc.
§ Experience with Cisco 7600 and 6500 series modular chassis as well as Catalyst 3750, 2960, etc. switches.
§ Experience with enterprise wireless LAN, preferably with Aruba M3 wireless controllers.
§ Experience with Cisco Firewall Service Modules.
§ Experience with Cisco ACE Load Balancing, Cisco Works, Cisco Mars, Procera PacketShaper, Visio, and Snort are all a plus.
§ Knowledge of security controls and demonstrated experience applying security best-practices in a large scale production environment.
