The primary responsibilities of  the System Analyst position will be associated with the Virginia Department of Transportation’s 511 Traffic Information program.  The components of the 511 Traffic Information program are:


•             511 Integrated Voice Response System (IVR)

•             511 Website (

•             511 Mobile Application (iOS and Android)

•             Video Distribution (used to display traffic camera video on website, mobile app as well as tools for Media   entities and Partner Agencies)

•             Data Distribution (used by various internal/external entities)

•             VaTraffic Application (Internal application that is ultimately the current data Source for IVR, website and mobile application)



The position will assist with all technical aspects of the 511 Traffic Information Program to include (but not limited to):


•             Coordination of releases for bug fixes and associated testing

•             Coordination of releases for enhancements  and associated testing

•             Facilitate requests for access to VDOT’s video feeds

•             Facilitate requests for access to VDOT’s data feeds

•             Facilitate transition of existing data consumers to new data feed

•             Attend regular Project Management meetings

•             Provide support for Risk Management/Change Management of all 511 components

•             Perform analysis related to proposed network changes, system architecture changes and telephony changes

•             Facilitate troubleshooting and resolution of problems with all 511 components

•             Availability for limited after-hours technical support

•             Other duties may be assigned
