Must Haves:

a. Must have proven and recent experience as the primary/only project manager managing Application Development projects from start to finish with a minimum budget of $500,000 (labor) and minimum team size of 10 resources onshore/offshore. Need to have managed more than one $500k project

b. Must have experience working with external software vendors

c.  Must be a self-starter and be able to create clarity for potentially ambiguous requirements/situations as well as be comfortable working in a large, heavily matrixed organization

d. Must be able to understand project/solution details at the appropriate level and be able to effectively communicate with executive level project sponsors

e. Strong MS Project and budget management experience

Description of Work:

•       Demonstrates working knowledge of project management PMBOK methodology and SDLC and basic knowledge of program management

•       Recent experience in managing large projects with high complexity; multiple projects

•       Responsible for all aspects of cost management, including estimating, funding, budgeting, forecasting, controlling and reporting

•       Manage invoices, purchase orders and contracts statements of work

•       Establishes and executes a project communication plan, meeting facilitation; presentation and delivery

•       Demonstrated success in team leadership, stakeholder management, process adherence, ownership/ commitment, learning agility and risk management capabilities

•       Works with product/project owner to ensure scope is explicitly defined and documented and maintains integrity of scope

•       Proactively improves the project timeline through schedule management and progress tracking of schedule and budget

•       Ensures project is delivered within approved budget, schedule, contingency and meets quality standards

•       Canvasses team to identify all project risk, develops mitigation strategies/plans and works to have strategies in place should they be needed

•       Negotiates conflict resolution when needed between team members or product owners

•       Utilizes motivation techniques to ensure project team reaches goals and milestones

•       Negotiates with product owner to obtain key resources or materials 


•       Proven record of managing large Application Development (not Infrastructure) projects from start to finish and also have the ability to take over already in-flight projects

•       Per project: minimum team size 10 resources onshore/offshore, minimum budget $500,000 (predominately labor)

•       Proven experience managing large project teams consisting of both offshore / off site resources

•       Must be a self-starter and be able to create clarity for potentially ambiguous requirements/situations as well as be comfortable working in a large, heavily matrixed organization

•       Strong stakeholder management experience

•       Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

•       VP to developer

•       Proven execution of all aspects of complex projects including budget management, change control, detailed planning, conflict resolution, resource management, issue/risk management

•       Self-starter and self-driven. Ability to influence and negotiate with matrixed teams, leaders and resources

•       Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity

•       Sound business and technical acumen. Must be able to get to and understand the appropriate level of detail in order to effectively drive the project

•       Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure

•       Exemplary core project management skills including multiple aspects of the PMBOK - Strong experience with MS Project

•       Strong analytical, leadership, problem solving, critical thinking, organizational, communication, and planning skills
