Complete Description:

The DC-Net PIO will enhance the public image of DC-Net within the District government, the District community, and to the nation and world by communicating the DC-Net program’s mission and efforts as part of OCTO with timeliness, acumen, clarity, knowledge, and professionalism.

 

• Assist in developing communications plan that positively tells the DC-Net story through a range of venues and the carry out tasks under this plan.

• Manage DC-Net public facing communications through web, print, media, and social media.

• Write press releases highlighting DC-Net projects, milestones, and accomplishments

• Write articles for placement in trade/industry venues, white/position papers promoting DC-Net services.

• Get DC-Net positive exposure and integrity in media and public-facing industry events (expertise presence at conferences, round tables…)

• Manage DC-Net social media presence – Facebook, Twitter, etc.

• Establish positive press relations: get DC-Net placed in positive stories/feature articles in mainstream and industry press.

• Respond to media inquiries.

• Write talking points and speeches for DC-Net and District government leadership in areas relating to DC-Net

• Produce promotional materials for DC-Net events and services

• Contribute to product and service marketing/informational efforts and measure results

• Get DC-Net in federal government related press

• Assist with product/service content, including training material content and scripts for videos

• Manage Website content and organization, write website feature articles

• Stay abreast of and circulate information about municipal broadband related issues and initiatives (such as Google fiber) throughout the country and world.

•  Develop presentations

• Assist in grant/proposal writing as needed
