Position Requirements:

  • Significant experience leading large, multi-stakeholder information systems projects.
  • Post-secondary education in Commerce/Business, Engineering, Technology, or Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management planning tools (MS Project preferred) and associated MS Office products.
  • Experience in team-oriented environments with a successful track record of developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships.
  • Managed Software and Technology Development, and/or Application Integration projects using Iterative, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Decision and problem-solving at the root cause and complexity level.
  • Experience in understanding business/technical strategies and communicating these needs to governing bodies.
  • Lead statement of work (SOW) development, participate in contract negotiations, and manage Vendors and materials delivery.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional certificate (PMP).
  • Ability to rapidly learn new business processes and apply knowledge to improve project planning and delivery.
  • SAP Systems and Hire-to-Retire process/technology experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or experience working on Canada, US, and Mexico ERP/SAP implementations.
  • Experience managing projects with complex data models and data integrations.
  • Business acumen coupled with technology in various areas: Design-to-Deliver, Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Lead-to-Cash, Hire-to-Retire, Acquire-to-Dispose (Asset Management), Corporate Services.

Position Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with technical and business leaders to define project investment opportunities, outlining scope, schedule, budget, and benefits.
  • Identify and negotiate project resource requirements, evaluating delivery performance and setting expectations.
  • Direct accountability for planning and executing Agile or Waterfall projects, ensuring on-time, within scope, on budget, and meeting quality standards.
  • Utilize Agile software development estimation techniques for project estimate basis.
  • Demonstrate advanced project management expertise across knowledge areas.
  • Work with Product and resource owners to identify and manage stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  • Own the development and review of project requirements to ensure delivery aligns with planned benefits.
  • Facilitate interactions between Technical Leads, Project Delivery Staff, and QE Leads.
  • Plan project implementations and lead Go-live activities.
  • Escalate issues and risks to leadership in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure Organizational Change Management activities are completed.
  • Plan and ensure Transition to Support is completed and approved.
  • Follow IS PMO processes in accordance with SOX and management controls compliance.
  • Create and maintain project financials across project cost budget in SAP, PPM, and Excel.
  • Develop, monitor, and control all aspects of project delivery in accordance with CPKC IS PMO and project management best practices.
  • Develop presentations for senior management regarding project scope, schedule, budget, and status updates.
