Client is seeking resumes for a contractor. The desired, high-level requirements are:

  1. Experience and expertise designing, developing, and implementing a technology-supported, full-service Program Management Office (PMO) (required).
  2. Leading and managing a full-service PMO that oversees a SAP Center of Excellence of 100+ staff (required).
  3. Performing knowledge transfer to effectively transition ownership and operation of the PMO to client personnel (required).
  4. QA/Test Automation planning & execution expertise (desired).

 

The PMO Manager is responsible for designing, developing, establishing, and operating a robust program/project management and delivery framework.  This is a top-level staff position that must have comprehensive knowledge and status of all IT projects and incidents at all times.  This position will understand and advise on cross dependencies between projects, resource constraints and availability, and the business impact.  In addition, the PMO Manager will be responsible for ensuring project reporting requirements are met.  This person is seen as the go-to person for information on all projects in the project pipeline.  The PMO Manager must be able to proactively identify resource conflicts and then work cross functionally to drive prioritization within the Business Units. He/she must be a change agent and able to manage through ambiguity. The PMO Manager must be a strategic thinker, capable of leading direct reports through complex business problems and able to drive decision making through direct reports. The PMO Manager is an excellent communicator, capable of talking to leaders throughout the organization including presenting directly to the Steering Committee. He/she must have a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams, effectively managing and developing people and in-depth knowledge of project management skills and tools.

            
Education:  4-yr College Degree preferred but not required depending on experience.

  • 5 SAP/ERP Implementations.
  • Microsoft Project Skills.
  • Experience leading the establishment of PMOs.
  • Ability to develop & execute formal Project Management Plans.
  • Experience managing an Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Experience managing projects using formal project & schedule management tools & SDLC/ASAP methodologies.
  • PMO governance rules and process experience (create, deploy, operate).
  • Ability to establish and enforce budget & funding guidelines.

 

Description of Duties:

  • Responsible for planning tasks, assigning resources to the tasks, and monitoring and tracking progress against plan across multiple teams each with its own team leader and/or project manager.  The programs managed are typically medium in size and complexity, consisting of 10+ resources, including external vendors and/or contractors.  Mentors and guides team members as they prepare their deliverables and resolve project issues. 
  • Prepares progress / status reports.  Work with client and other counterparts at the director and c-levels.  Provides strategic input to the program management.  Manages project reviews, strategic project planning, and risk mitigation activities as assigned.  Communicates and supports Synergy policies and procedures.  Ensures accurate and timely time and expense reporting by team.
  • Provides dashboard & status reporting, manages program financials, proposal development, & progress of program deliverables. Establish program standards, staffing procedures, & planning guidelines.
  • Provides budget & financial guidelines & establishes EVM practices & procedures.
  • May be asked to lead projects valued up to $10M.

 

This position is located in our Roanoke, VA office building with a mid-March start date.  Some travel may be required but will not exceed 10%..
