Microsoft Server 2003 will reach end of life on July 14, 2015. The Department has numerous applications including several core functions (A&A and tokens) that rely on this technology. These efforts will include moving off SQL 2000 and Windows Server 2003.
Internal applications are built on Windows Server 2003 and well as SQL 2000. Some applications will be able to be upgraded to the new version and some will require the business partners to seek out purchased solutions.
One of the larger initiatives will include working with the business partners to determine if adequate testing has been performed on the applications prior to release.
Some requirements gathering may be required initially to do the high level program planning, but eventually a BA may join the project to gather the requirements in greater detail.
Projects typically follow a waterfall methodology but iterative experience would be a plus to plan phased migration to the new platform moving tasks through different stages of the project life cycle.
