Complete Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over staff of the assigned unit, involved in the battery replacement operation. Works under general supervision furnishes the employees with oral instruction or written work orders and or a list of locations where as battery replacements are to be made in approximates forty locations citywide. The incumbent supervises the work of assigned crews and the accomplishment of assigned work and to insure it conforms to operations and polices and basic productions schedules set by management officials prior. The supervisor insures the adequacy and conformance to requirements of individual staff workers as appropriate. Work is subject to onsite inspections by supervisors during progress to insure that overall results are satisfactory. Collaborates with supervisor of other management officials as appropriate, in the initial planning phase, investigative, and/or resolutions of issues involving unit mattes such as current/ future work schedules, identification of equipment materials and labors required for operation and production.
Identifies specific work priorities , complete project schedules, insure deadlines , resources allocations, and any specifics work methods to be followed by subordinates. Determine any day to day adjustments necessary for established unit due to labor, material non availability, changes to field conditions encountered, emergency, unanticipated and or/or priority assignments s and climatic conditions suspending progress of work, either partially or totally. Tracks and reports progress on unit work assignments, requesting the necessary adjustments in worker assignments when needed.
Work Direction:
Typically directs crew consisting of four to five individuals in the accomplishment of assigned work operations with the limits of policies in the production schedule set by management officials. Explains work assignments and acceptable methods and procedures to be used. Instruct staff in performing new task, consistent with safe working practices , methods and procedures required to staff. Provide s crews with continuing instruction on safety requirement sand conducts regular tailgate meetings.
The candidate will be driving a heavy-duty pickup truck and must have a clean driving record for the past two years.
Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements. Prepares daily, details reports pertaining to the crew members.
Administrative:
Reviews overall requests by staff for leave. Recommends to the supervisors and approval schedule for the unit. Monitors the timely and accurate reporting of time and attendance by staff. Monitors and evaluates the work performance of subordinates. Recommends training needs for the unit.
Work Conditions:
Work outdoors throughout the year in extremely high and low temperatures and in snow and light rain. Work is often performed under hazards conditions with heavily traveled thoroughfares on which traffic is maintained while work progress. Knowledge’s of safety practices and procedures used when working near heavy traffic, traffic control practices using traffic cones. This job requires lots of heavy lifting. Safety equipment will be provided. These positions will ensure that the batteries in new portable units are swapped out at least every 48 hours. 80 of the units have 2 batteries that each weigh 178 pounds. 8 of the units have 1-2 batteries that weigh 90 pounds. The batteries have carrying handles on the sides. We have a truck with a lift gate and dolleys that will be used to transport the batteries from our office to the field units, which are located all over the District of Columbia.
