EXPERIENCE:

Confidential, Atlanta, GA

Workplace Solutions Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Perform code reviews on request. This involves reviewing the syntax and algorithm of coworker’s code snippets. I specifically examine the following:
  • Duplicate code - copied and pasted code creates maintenance problems in that if a change is needed then one has to update it in multiple locations. If possible, I advise to avoid this as much as possible and instead use a single function call
  • Accuracy of code - obviously the code must perform the task as desired and there may be issues such as using the wrong index of an array, incorrect string function, etc…
  • Elegant handling of errors - code rarely executes in a perfect world and care must be taken to ensure that when errors occur it will handle them gracefully. One method is to report the error either to a log file, event log, or email. Another method is to ensure that operations can resume after an error, for example, with a database operation one has to do an “upsert”. This involves checking to see if the record already exists and if not, add a new record otherwise update the existing record
  • Maintain and enhance Ivanti LanDesk system, which the organization uses for helpdesk, change management, asset management and user management. I perform regular monitoring and resolve issues whenever they occur. Plus I receive and perform enhancement requests such as adding new fields to forms, reassigning users, etc…
  • Replace all references to Oracle Confidential in corporate legacy web application with new references to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). This improves web response times of the cancer.org site from 10% failed page hits to virtually nil.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with cancer.org on request
  • Enhance legacy fitness and weight management web application at activeforlife.org by removing performance bottlenecks associated with Oracle Universal Content Management ( Confidential ) system. This was done by removing all connections to the Oracle Confidential and revising the code to read from disk files. Due to this enhancement downtime issues improved from 10% failed page hits to virtually nil.
  • Create web service simulator that mimics production web service to allow quick turnaround in development. This not only simulates responses but also performs scheduled processes to send data to the development system, hence allowing for an automated simulated production environment
  • Revise legacy asp.net web application to ensure compatibility with Google Chrome and IE 11. Compatibility issues involve copy to clipboard functionality, broken images, and layout formatting
  • Create asp.net web service that automates the processing of volunteer registrations by utilizing the Blackbaud API and currently processes approximately 100,000 volunteers per month
  • Upgrade asp.net 2.0 finance web application to asp.net 4.0, and at the same time upgrade existing DevExpress references from version 9 to 12. Also improve performance by replacing the existing data access layer with EntityFramework 6.0 API, enabling the application to handle tables containing over 5 million records
  • Revise and upgrade legacy asp.net application, SSIS package, Reports, Stored Procedures and VBScripts to accommodate new fields for JP Morgan interface system, which currently processes over 4,000 debit and credit card transactions per day
  • Develop new version of Relay for Life planning tool (rpt.cancer.org) that replaces existing asp.net application. The app allows volunteers and coordinators to track donations, checklists, vendors, and establish contingency plans in case of unexpected issues. Currently hosted on a server farm and can handle approximately 10,000 volunteers nationwide
  • Create web service to automate deactivation of terminated employees by accessing proprietary systems such as Lawson, Filenet, and Internal user management systems. Currently this processes average 5 users per day and reduces average time from two days of manually processing to approximately 30 minutes of automated processes
  • Replace existing finance transfer application by creating a new web application that allows finance to double the volume of transactions from approximately 200 to over 460 transactions per month. This is made possible due to creating features that include the following: verification of account coding, account lookup functionality, automatic auditing, email notifications, and daily unattended processes.
  • Replace existing allocation finance application by developing a new web application that allows for a one-stop solution and unifies 16 divisions. This reduces average work per division from 3 days to 1 day by employing a user-friendly and consistent web interface and automatic data verification.
