Description:
- As a result of Pfizer’s acquisition of Pharmacia, the management of several legacy Pharmacia Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts has presented a challenge. Within these GPOs, member hospitals or facilities may elect to participate in Performance Participation Agreements (PPA). These agreements afford the member off-invoice discounts based on market share changes (as measured by extended units or dollars provided on IMS DDD data) or sales percentage changes (as measured by a rolling 12 months of internal sales units).
Each quarter, Pfizer must evaluate the results of members participating in the PPA programs and assign these members to appropriate price groups by determining milestone achievement for volume-based or market share-based tiered contracts. The current member assignment process is performed manually. Automating this process will provide improvements to Pfizer contract management in terms of reduced cycle time, reduced effort, and improved accuracy.
