  • Developed an interface between a Warehouse management system and the ERP system. This was done using CICS, and MQ Series.
  • Coded a CICS system to read and parse XML transmitted with MQ Series and update a parts database.
  • Coded several IDMS table procedures to allow web-based front end applications to read, update, or delete data from an IDMS database using SQL.
  • Enhanced an entire system to accept a field increased in size. This involved expansion of datasets and databases, as well as coding some 300 programs to use the lager field size.

  • ADMIN - Admin is a collection of custom mainframe applications that were designed to provide the company with computer support for all of their back office requirements. These applications provided data entry for orders, customer maintenance, telemarketing, invoicing, taxation, (both sales and use tax), a sales reporting, commissioning, job costing, account receivables, the detail G/L accounting, revenue reporting, fixed asset management supported by only a few commercial packages.
  • CARMS/Walker Billing - Credit & Accounts Receivable Management System is the leading mainframe high volume software package. Major features are: Concurrent batch processing with on-lines up, month-end Cutoff processing, general ledger reporting, credit exception reporting, terms of sale, auto-cash processing to reduce the time and paperwork spent on routine cash application processing. Customers are sent statements and past-due notifications regularly or by on demand requests.
  • MultiScreen (Customer Service ) - MultiScreen is a JAVA based system that provides customer service representatives a consolidated view of the customer information. Customer information is currently contained in several client WEB and mainframe systems. In order to service a customer call the representatives may be called on to locate the customer’s information in one or all of these systems. This process adds complexity and time to average call duration. Since the customer representatives have to use all of the systems to support their calls, the training ramp up time is currently one month. MultiScreen provides a consolidated information of a customer from different system and representative can also submit payment, update customer information from MultiScreen.

  • Worked on the mainframe portion of an intranet client/server system to track cars from ordering through retail.
  • Analyzed, designed, and coded the mainframe portion of a new client/server system to track car invoices. This required significant changes to the mainframe application, including the use of new DB2 tables.
  • Designed and coded a new CICS pricing program to gather all pricing information about cars. This program became the sole source for obtaining pricing information in both mainframe and client/server applications.
  • Was responsible for maintaining a CICS application coded in COBOL II. There were 150 CICS programs and 50 DB2 programs.
  • Converted over 100 CICS VSAM programs to use DB2. This was a major project for Confidential, and was highly visible.

Responsibilities:

  • Restructured a CICS interface between two applications, reducing DB2 usage and cutting CPU time. The interface consisted of two large programs, coded in COBOL II.
  • Designed and coded a new batch COBOL II and CICS on-line compensation application for managed healthcare providers. The batch applications consisted of 7 programs and the on-line application consisted of 4 programs.
  • Reviewed and analyzed ABEND reports using ABEND-AID for on-line application transactions. Debugged the ABENDS using EXPEDITOR and ADS. Implemented corrections using DB2 improving the CICS application systems reliability.
  • Tuned some twenty VSAM datasets, reducing DASD usage and improving system response time. Analysis was done using LISTCATS. CA and CI sizes where changed to match record sizes better.
  • Planned, coordinated, and implemented the physical relocation of four batch and on-line applications from Roseland New Jersey, to Jacksonville Florida. The relocation was accomplished over a weekend, with minimal adverse effect on end users. The move involved coordinating the set-up of CICS regions, and copying programs and files to tapes for transportation using IEBGENER and FILE-AID.
  • Maintained several thousand lines of production OS/VS JCL. Responsibilities included daily and monthly production set-up, adding steps for new program execution, and performance improvements.
  • Other responsibilities included daily on-call production support.
