  • Did POCs on Azure Data Lake using U-SQL to on-board large datasets.
  • Currently working in a devops and agile methodology for the past 30+ months
  • Used Clustered column store indices in Azure PAAS Sql Databases and avoided the use of Sql server Analysis Services. SSAS internally uses Column store indices.
  • Have the set up the Continuous Integration-Continuous Deployment-Continuous Testing (CI-CD-CT) for Azure Sql Database and Azure Data Factory projects for Confidential Client.
  • Moved data between Azure and On-Premises machines using Azure Gateways (installed and configured both Azure Data Factory Gateway and on-premises Data Gateway)

  • Used compressions and Partition techniques to perfection on Sql server tables so that the scans on the 400+ million records tables happen in < 10 seconds.
  • Good knowledge of MDX, DAX and PolyBase languages. Implemented the Row level security for the self-service Reporting using DAX in SSAS(Tabular).
  • Implemented month level Partitions on Sql Server Analysis Services Tabular Model and processed the changed Partitions from SSIS Packages on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Performed the Initial evaluation and Proof of concepts to use Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Warehouse OR Azure Sql Database, Azure Active Directory, Azure Data Factory and Power BI Desktop. We finally decided to use Azure Sql Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Active Directory and Power BI Desktop.
  • Implemented clustered column store indices to perfection so that the data is fetched into reports in sub-seconds from tables containing millions of records
  • Designed and implemented data pulls using Azure Data Factory(ADF). Data was pulled from Azure Blob/On-Premises up-streams and Data was pushed into Azure Blob down-streams. Have used custom .Net activities in ADF. Implemented Alerts for Azure Data Factory failures.
  • Built the Multi-dimensional models using Facts and dimensions in the Azure Sql Database using stored procedures, views and external tables. Implemented Non-clustered column store indices on transactional tables
  • Used Azure PowerShell and Visual Source Online for implementing Continuous Integration-Continuous Deployment-Continuous Testing (CI-CD-CT). Used Azure PowerShell to up-size/down-size the Azure Sql Databases and to procure new Azure Sql databases on the fly.
  • Used the Azure Service Fabric Stateless services for our windows services.
  • Have set-up the Azure Active Directory Integrated Authentication with Sql Server Management studio. Waiting for the Power BI Desktop to support Azure Active Directory Authentication
  • Developed self-service reports using Power BI Desktop & an in-house excel tool in Confidential .

  • Self-service capabilities are implemented on top of Facts that contained 600+ million records.
  • Implemented month level Partitions on Sql Server Analysis Services Tabular Model and processed the Partitions from SSIS Packages on a daily basis.
  • Implemented Partitions & Compressions on the Sql Server tables that growing beyond 200+ million records and brought down the scanning times to < 10 seconds
  • Right sized the Sql Server machines with 8 core processor, 64 GB RAM & 16 GB page file. Also right sized the Sql Server Analysis server machines with 8 core processor, 32 GB RAM & 16 GB page file. Ensured page file is not part of the C drive. Ensured sufficient free space on the C drive.
