He has long been known as the guy to build the right solution even when others do not clearly see the problem.
He storage experience goes back to chip level repair of disk drives from 1979. He has worked on DEC, EMC and Hitachi arrays from before SANs were invented.
Confidential automated a process to run in 5 hours that was taking 6 people 3 weeks to complete each month. He also created their first successful DR plan.
Confidential wrote and implemented “The Response to 911” plan. This plan provided 2 or 3 site HA and DR for some 6,500 servers, between 2 and 16 times performance increase for all servers, 8 fold increase in backup performance, full offsite, lan free, and off host backup, all at a cost of 25% of what they were currently paying per server. This was predominantly achieved through virtualizing 99% of the servers.
Now in the US, Confidential took a backup environment that was running at 40 - 60% backup success for several years to 99.8% with a few short months and increased the backup speed 3 fold. He won the top award for Sungard Storage Engineers across the US and Canada, plus was a major contributor to the top team award.

Full management of Storage, Backup, and DR for the University.
No additional assets were added to make these improvements.
Re-architected the existing Storage to add 30TB of Flash storage for production usage through implementing best practices and VAAI.
Upgraded Brocade environment to current firmware and best practices for zoning.
Upgraded Netbackup environment to current code levels and migrated backup to MSDP and SLP. Reduced daily backup times from 8 ½ to 2 hours. Reduced the weekend backup window from 62 hours, to 23. Bellevue consistently has a 100% backup success rate.
Currently migrating long term retention to object storage.

Full management of a large number of Storage arrays and SAN fabrics.
Upgraded all arrays and Brocade director to target code, completed several long overdue housekeeping activities. Automated several admin tasks that will save 250hrs annually.
Completed a full vendor review for block level storage across the shared storage environment for Confidential .
Completion of an average of 18 DR tests annually, and 24 x 7 on-call support.
