Project Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Concepted patentable versions of my existing Patented Mechanism for very high strength seat designs to solve difficult design areas using kinematics.
- Highly articulated custom Business class aircraft seats were redesigned to decrease cost and weight of existing seat assemblies, and to improve durability.
- Managed program and concepted designs on CATIA V5 and ProEngineer.
- Tooling was designed for Each aspect of assembly.
- Interior components involved complex electronic controls integrated into very tight space requirements, Seat and Devan design using specialized fabrics and composites, lighting and lamp fixtures, mentation lighting. The products were brought into production by designing the fixtures, processes and personnel to operate. In addition to a wide variety of Seats, Seat Structures and Settees I concepted, designed andtook into productionmany, Interior Panels and Cabin. Performed stress calculations to qualify designs of Interior Components, Mechanisms, Seating and support structures.
- Bulkheads were created from scratch. This included the Galley and Lavatories. Custom arrangements of Electronics and Passenger Amenities were included in many of the Cabinets and Fixtures. High quality Veneers were used in conjunction with the lightweight panel materials. Specialized bonding methods were employed in high strength applications. Composites were utilized in every component to maximize strength and minimize weight. Specialized mechanisms were also designed to accomplish aesthetic requirerments and function, to hide away components yet make them easily and ergonomically available using kinematics. Ergonomic studies were done to prove out many of the motions using various percentile occupants. Worked closely with manufacturing to assure ease of manufacturability. Durability tests were performed on all functioning components. I concepted and prototyped many new mechanisms for special applications, many of which were patentable. I also interfaced directly with the customer in some custom designs to assure a high degree of satisfaction. FMEA documents were generated on very complex interiors, and FEA was performed on designs in critical areas regularly.
