Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Senior developer for the Newark development Team. Full stack developer with ownership of the front end of the project. Responsible for on-time delivery of UI code, including proper “look and feel” as well as proper functionality of all fields and buttons.
  • Worked collaboratively with back-end developers when designing or enhancing Restful services, and planned division of responsibility between front and back end for new functionalities. Designed and developed new functionality, as well as mentored and code reviewed junior developers. Prior to release, worked closely with QA team to ensure bug-free delivery.
  • Technology stack includes Oracle and H2 databases with Hibernate, Spring and Maven, Java. Front end utilizes ExtJS and Javascript. Communication through Restful services.
  • User Preferences: Users requested the ability to hide/show and re-order columns on the main grid and save this preference across multiple sessions. Created UI component for users to set column order and visibility, and save button to send the preference to backend as JSON via Restful service. Created controller to receive service, H2 and Oracle tables to store this data as a clob, and a DAO to interface with the new tables.
  • Concurrent Users: Newark proposals may only be checked out by one user at a time. This accounted for the possibility that one user checked out a proposal while another was currently working on it. Wrapped all server side controllers with an aspect which confirmed the user’s lock status before allowing the service to continue. Returned a locking error if user’s lock expired. On client side, extended our Ajax object to first check for the locking error before allowing normal service return logic.
