WORK HISTORY:

Sr. Java Developer

Confidential, New Orleans, LA

Responsibilities:

  • Hired as a J2EE developer, I ported legacy billing software into a web platform. I quickly expanded my roles beyond development into management.
  • As a manager I oversought development of their mobile products.
  • A jack of all trades, I coordinated efforts between all departments of the company and dove into the trenches wherever I was needed: support, QA, development, management, and client integration. I was frequently chosen to spearhead new projects and initiatives (both onshore and offshore), and placed in charge of establishing development workflow procedures, and to manage emergency triage ‘war room’ scenarios.
  • Software used in over 300 hospice facilities throughout the United States. Doctors and nurses used software on mobile devices during house calls to manage patients’ medications and care.
  • Facilities used software to produce insurance claims for Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, Medicaid, Room and Board, and commercial carriers.

Software Engineer

Confidential, New Orleans, LA

Responsibilities:

  • Hired as the company’s second software developer (and third overall hire), I was tasked with overhauling the existing data backend, to facilitate the company expanding into new markets, and to become the foundation for the development team.
  • Over the course of two years the company grew from 3 employees to 20 employees.
  • Headquartered in Oklahoma I was selected to spearhead the opening of a second office in New Orleans.
  • The company sold annual subscriptions of software to visualize oil and gas data points on a map.
  • Backing the software was an ever expanding warehouse of collected data via web scraping and other means.

Software Engineer

Confidential, Ellicott City, MD

Responsibilities:

  • A wide variety of government, military ( Confidential ), and private sub - contracts with deadlines ranging from 2 weeks (throwaway) to 2 years (iterative continued support).
  • Given a client’s idea (and nothing else) we’d produce a prototype to meet a hard deadline.
  • Most of contracts were geared toward a proof-of-concept demo for future government grants or investors.
  • Depending on the project my role included design, development (primary role), and everything in between.
  • Features were often in constant flux as driven by frequent feasibility and performance testing.

QA Engineer

Confidential, Timonium, MD

Responsibilities:

  • An internship which became a hired full-time position post-graduation. QA team of 15 engineers.
  • Our department exhaustively tested logistics planning software for final-mile delivery (used by center operators, truck loaders, and truck drivers).
  • Extensive preparation for smooth field upgrades (50+ centers upgrading simultaneously) with fallback scenarios in the event of extreme delays.
