As the development lead my responsibilities involved mentoring 2 other developers, coordinating with WebSphere Portal, WebSphere and WebSphere Commerce products development/test teams to meet their requirements and working with the senior architect preparing the design document which included the internals of the repository manager for managing multiple repositories, a Data Access Object Framework for easily supporting different database management systems, an efficient search interface for searching users on multiple repositories and a key manager for generating primary keys. My duties also included implementing the key manager, search functions and repository manager and code review.

This work was done using Java, EJBs and XML.
- Collaborated with IBM Research to implement a Policy based Access Control for WebSphere Commerce Business edition (WCBE) to access control Commands, Databeans, and EJBs used by WCBE. My biggest contribution to this project was leading the performance turning and rewriting of code to reduce the access control and server runtime overhead from 20% to fewer than 5%. This work involved, usage of java profiling tools such as Jinsight to identify the bottlenecks, code walk-throughs, introducing various caching techniques to reduce runtime DB access, analyzing SQL statements and rewriting them and proper reordering of db access to eliminate deadlocks.
