PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Java Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Web developer consulting for a new system to integrate the current Java based Confidential order manager web application (OrderManager) with the Confidential vendor’s scholastic eCommerce web application (SeCom). This was a high profile project between the two corporations which entailed senior management involvement for all aspects for this implementation.
  • Technologies for the Confidential OrderManager web application utilized Java, Flex, Spring, and Microsoft SQL Server. The OrderManager communications to the SeCom application implemented a JSON transactional mechanism.
  • Implemented 80% of the code for this project which required a development effort as the only full time Java resource for the SeCom Integration project. Additional development also included several other modifications to the OrderManager system that were required for this release.
  • Development for this project entailed transforming the SeCom application’s orders, payments, price lists, schools, students, and various office operation configurations to the Confidential OrderManager web application (School class rings, caps, gowns, and diplomas). Verification and update notifications were also implemented for the SeCom web application in order to query the OrderManager system to keep the two systems synchronized.
  • Created all documentation for the SeCom to OrderManager integration stored in a corporate web site for the Java server side application. This also included the first documentation for this OrderManager system which described functionality for this application.

  • Enhanced the Confidential SIGACTS (Significant Actions) Struts 2 application that created 5 more reports and updated user information from an LDAP server with Ajax calls in order to allow upper management to monitor teams, projects, and individuals on a weekly basis.
  • Enhanced the Confidential Stations Search Utility Servlet application that provided information on station searching capabilities that utilized web service calls and Google Maps API via Ajax to provide visual locations to selected recruiting stations. These enhancements were to correct station address information and fixed defects that were not searching correctly for the application.

  • Senior web developer for Confidential ’s www. Confidential .com product which is a web-based research tool used to search and retrieve scientific and technological abstracts. Application utilized J2EE, Struts, Servlets, JSP, JSTL, EL, Tiles, XML, HTML, JavaScript and Ajax technologies in WebSphere Application Server 5.1 and 6.0 environments. Oracle 9i along with web services were used for backend processes to interface with third party search engines. Productivity tools included IBM’s RAD IDE, Toad, ClearCase, JUnit, and DevPartner for Java.
  • Implemented a major release that integrated a new graphic interface (Flex) with the Confidential application to plot charting for various statistical measurements (Citation tracking, influence of journals and articles, etc). Application development primarily involved search capabilities for journals and session management of selected records for the graphic tool. Other release development included enhancements to the Confidential citation tracking application that largely entailed modifications to Struts, Servlets, Ajax, and XSL web components.
  • Developed Servlet filter modifications to remove unnecessary characters (HTML comments) for all incoming Confidential transactions for performance improvement. Also researched and developed programs to consolidate existing Servlet filters using JMeter and DevPartner tools to create and analyze performance test results.
  • Implemented HTML 4.01 Transitional compliant changes in order to ensure W3C compliance to the Confidential application. This resulted in modifying approximately 75 JSP, CSS, Java custom tag and class changes to the application using the Firefox HTML Validator add-in and the W3C CSS Validator site.
  • Analyzed, developed, and implemented various bug fixes for production and release defects.
  • Created high level design and WBS estimates for a new redesign project of the core Confidential search, search results, and search detail pages. This also included adding additional user settings and customization functionality for these core pages.

AS/400 applications utilized DB2/400, SQL Query Manager, CA7 job scheduler, XCOM, FTP, LU 6.2, IBM and I/Net Web Servers, Keys Fax software, Group1 GEO code, POLK (VIN correction), and ZipSource software (Zip code location software to calculate mileage between GM dealerships and consumer addresses).
  • Performed all Y2K testing with CMM processes on the AS/400 application and hardware system.
  • Developed sophisticated GM auto dealer locate system utilizing Geocoding software (address corrections, census tract assignments) to display mileage distance from customer location to GM dealerships. The system assigns dealer territories based on census tract to allow the call center advisor on the phone to recommend exactly what dealership could market the caller’s household which also resulted in leads faxed to the dealership.
