- I set up and managed software release and deployment by creating the software infrastructure to enable continuous integration and deployment. Daily software builds and internal deployments were created for the various software threads. A weekly deployment cycle was used for external release to allow customers to in corporate the new features into their processes and workflows.

- I was responsible for customer engineering and services in the Automotive, Industrial, Aerospace and Defense Business Unit. I reported to the BU VP and led a diverse team of 50 engineers, providing services and feedback for multiple embedded systems products in these markets. I managed all aspects of global customer engineering and programs, from the largest key accounts and partners to the smaller local customers. These efforts transformed the organization into a culture of product quality and customer focus, added revenue and greatly increased product sales.
- I was the primary point of contact for the high-level key accounts. I gathered and managed customer technical requirements and expectations, met with cross-functional teams to represent the customer and negotiate technical outcomes for VxWorks associated products. Communications with sales, BU VP and CXO were typically included. Coordinated and lead quarterly on-site visits for key customer reviews and strategic roadmap discussions. These discussions included engineering, product marketing, sales and support. Review and negotiate and services and support contracts for key accounts. Co-negotiate the high-level recurring maintenance contracts; e.g. Honeywell International Space Station environmental software. Lead the escalation management team to expedite issues cross-functionally where needed. These issues were communicated to product engineering, sales, on-site field engineering and successful outcomes negotiated. Reviewed ongoing engineering projects with technical teams on a continual basis.
- I was responsible for web site strategy, web development, tools and programs. I instituted online knowledge management to improve customer effectiveness with products, which greatly increased product effectiveness. Also established internal processes to create, review and publish technical content including in-depth engineering white papers, materials and product tutorials. This platform formed the basis of the tiered delivery model. Fragmented IT infrastructure was consolidated into a cohesive set of systems and processes that worked together to provide business intelligence for the organization. This included multiple CRM tools, databases and hardware. Automated Dashboards were created in “Business Objects” and published to monitor customer status in real time. On-board “Call Home” diagnostic technologies and metrics were developed and added to standard products.
- Organized the customer base into 3 segments; Platinum, Gold, Bronze and established a tiered business model to match. I initiated and launched products and services to support these segments. The result produced greatly increased customer effectiveness with products and a much higher utilization of company staff and resources. Established revenue generating customer programs consisting of dedicated on-site engineers. These services provided an increased revenue stream and increased the level of customer effectiveness with a complex matrix of embedded systems and system simulation products. I lead the working group that was tasked by the CEO to implement the mission to “Get Close to the Customer”. We transformed global field engineering into an effective, customer focused organization. Over 400 engineers were successfully merged into multiple business groups, which were aligned by market. Customer effectiveness improved dramatically and substantial sources of new revenue from services programs were created generating > $5M.
- Worked with key customers and with marketing and sales to compile requirements for embedded systems platforms products. These requirements were included into the existing MRDs and product roadmaps and delivered to product engineering it be included into the subsequent customer release. Included VxWorks RTOS, tools, BSPs and IDE.
- I had primary responsibility for staffing in our BU and advisory responsibility for other groups. I believe that hiring the highest quality people is one of the most important jobs I had. Created a concise and robust set of hiring criteria. Co created the career ladder and set specific criteria and performance goals for each level. Created a quarterly incentive plan to link behavior and performance to career goals.
