Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System Optimization Suite (Eclipse RCP, Google Map JavaScript API, Java 2D, SWT, jFreeChart, LWJGL, guava, Memcached, P2 Repository, PDE Build)
In this project, we are developing an optimization software suite to improve the performance of managing Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS). SCATS is used throughout the traffic network to control the timing of traffic signal with the purpose of improving traffic volume and minimizing delay and stops experiencing by drivers.
The optimization software we developed uses Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) as the front end. It provides the user the ability to construct and modify Arterials displayed in Google Map. Also, it presents to the user a graphic interface to coordinate traffic signals. The RCP program is designed with MVC pattern and it communicates to server side using Memcached.
I am mainly responsible for front end development and domain design in this project, as well as maintaining documentation along development process. I gain extensive experience in Eclipse Plug - in development, Google Map JavaScript API, as well as several drawing frameworks.

The aim of this project is to implement an Assisted GPS handset device to measure the performance of Andrew Mobile Location Centre (MLC) so that tuning of MLC is possible. The handset communicates with Andrew MLC via SUPL protocol to get assistant data, which is then transferred to Sirf GPS chip to assist it in getting the current location. And then the current location is displayed in Google Map via a desktop application with Java Swing.
Also, part of this project was to enhance PostgreSQL with spatial data query ability with open source PostGIS package. And I was intensively involved in Solaris OS package configuration and installation as well as shell script.
