PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Independent Consultant

Confidential (Dallas, TX)

Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Guidelines for System Integration: MedSyergies Inc., a leading provider of healthcare revenue cycle services and technology, hired Confidential to create a system that needed to integrate with their existing closed-and-proprietary system from GE. In an urgent engagement as on-site consultant, I investigated and documented the EIS processes and integration points to close the analysis gap and guide the Confidential team.

Architect, Programmer, Team Lead

Confidential(Walnut Creek, CA)

Responsibilities:

  • Confidential, Inc., a money transfer company, needed to make its POS web-application available to dialup agents. Designed a solution that allowed maximum reuse of the existing J2EE stack; coded the multi-threaded and distributed database-sync component; and led the Confidential development team. Tools/Technologies used: OOAD, J2EE, Struts, Apache AXIS, IBM RAD, Eclipse, IBM WASCE, IBM Cloudscape, IBM DB2.
  • Mavent, a provider of automated regulatory compliance solutions for the mortgage industry, hired Confidential to create the 2nd generation of its compliance system. Architected and designed the server-side (business and data) layers; led the iterative development; implemented the core business and framework classes; implemented an embeddable interpretive engine and the new standalone compiled engine. Tools/Technologies used: OOAD, Java, XML, XmlSchema (XSD), JAXB, ANTLR, Hibernate, Eclipse.

Architect, Programmer

Confidential (Pasadena, CA)

Responsibilities:

  • Designed and developed a very successful p2p architecture for SharedNet, making it a network of Node groups comprising peer Nodes. This architecture allowed for a much cleaner design and code, more featureful and robust clients, and configurations not previously possible.
  • Designed and developed SharedNet's internal representation for the user-defined object-model (XMI).
  • Designed and developed a persistence layer with support for pluggable stores (e.g. JDBC, File, RAM).
  • Wrote a query parser (in ANTLR) that validated against the user-defined object-model. Wrote an interpreter to execute queries against a memory-store, and an SQL-convertor for use with the JDBC-store.

Programmer

Confidential (Sunnyvale, CA)

Responsibilities:

  • Confidential, a Content Management solution provider, needed a C++/C expert to help adapt its C-sourcebase to Java.

Architect, Programmer, Team Lead

Confidential (Concord, CA)

Responsibilities:

  • Re-architected DOM to be distribution-technology neutral and better componentized. Coded the component framework, the core component, and the CICS/ECI component.
  • Helped design a generic logging facility with a pluggable architecture.
  • Initiated the company-wide coding-standards effort. Applied Design by Contract concept to C++.
  • Wrote a lisp package for Emacs to support C++ coding-standards and enhance productivity.

Consultant

Confidential (Memphis, TN)

Responsibilities:

  • Setup TCCS under HPUX, AIX and SunOS to allow a code change to be compiled and tested on each platform prior to check-in.
  • Ported the C++ sources from AIX to SunOS.
  • Wrote set of tools (shell- and awk-scripts) to resolve build problems with C++ templates.
  • Adapted the C++ libraries to TCL (using SWIG) to facilitate testing.
  • Created User Guides for the new environment and the tools mentioned above.

Programmer, Team Lead

Confidential (Hoffman Estates, IL)

Responsibilities:

  • Co-designed and developed a configurable workflow system to route the input records (a telecom standard format) through various processing components.
  • Led the development team for the bill-generating component.
  • Proactively designed and implemented a system (called XCVS) that extended CVS with work-areas, shared build-areas, release management, etc. XCVS became an integral part of development Confidential Genesis.

Programmer

Confidential (Dallas, TX)

Responsibilities:

  • Designed and implemented an Electronic Suggestion Form, which allowed an employee to submit a suggestion to a committee. The routing workflow was email driven and easily configurable.
  • Wrote a windowing-library (on top of 'curses') for dumb terminals. It provided for Edit-, Check-, Radio-, List-, and Memo-fields; Menus; Dialog Boxes; and Forms (connected to an RDBMS).
  • Developed, using yacc and lex, a C++-like scripting language to customize a Form (of which Electronic Suggestion Form was one instance).
  • Wrote a database-access library to provide a more flexible and higher-level interface to Informix than ESQL. It utilized POSIX IPC (Shared Memory and Message Queues) to support concurrent connections to more than one database (which was not possible via ESQL).
  • Adapted concepts such as Inheritance, Polymorphism and Exceptions into the C code. The code had to be in C because there was no C++ compiler available for AIX Confidential the time.
  • Utilized POSIX IPC (Shared Memory) to boost performance of Informix reports, making some reports over 20-times faster
