Sr. Application Architect

Responsibilities:

  • Performed architectural analysis for assigned mainframe COBOL, DB2, IMS projects related to supported applications as well as new application and database design, code, test and implementation.
  • Onsite DBA support with Sr. DBA for support role, unloads and reloads for DB2 and IMS Database along with SQL analysis and support for programming and test teams.
  • Supported production and test environment batches utilizing CA7/ESP/CAWA schedulers including scheduling and admin/systems support for both mainframe and distributed.

  • As primary mainframe and midrange technical contact for the PMO, my responsibilities involved solving scheduling and technical issues presented by the ongoing Y2K efforts by each Long Distant Division (LDD) application group including management and implementation of Y2K Pilot. Responsibilities also included problem determination and resolution, abend support, analysis, design and programming of support software, mentoring application personnel and attending many of the PMO and application planning meetings.
  • Managed, trained and mentored teams across all organizations to upgrade over 1 million program modules including COBOL, C and Assembler to version levels capable of executing under IBM Language Environment. Project was on time and on budget leaving the entire codebase of a diverse suite of languages to current levels in preparation to a major system upgrade.

  • Designed, coded and implemented mainframe DB2 and Teradata objects for mainframe side via middleware for the Smalltalk front end. Provided code conversions from PLI to MVS Cobol.

Requirements consisted of providing Mainframe COBOL 370 / SQL objects to be called by the Smalltalk applications for information retrieval from existing DB2 and Teradata databases.
