I performed troubleshooting and bug fix of the Confidential Online Store I worked tickets on the section of the code dealing with the customer selecting the merchandise for purchase (Aspen) and the section of the code where the user completed their purchases (Oscar). At times the deeper dives went into the PL/SQL and Java code.
  • Created and modified a report written in Korn Shell Script and PL/SQL that looked for aged purchases that had not completed processing. The script involved queries against two different database instances that were not integrated. Therefore the script included SQL that ran against the first database whose output was SQL to run against the second database. The second script was then run against the second database. The script runs every two hours through Cron to assist Confidential support in identifying orders that are stuck and not fully processed.

  • For Gordman s, confidential, I was the technical lead and designer and coder of the interface between Oracle Retail Invoice Matching (ReIM) and Gordman s financial system. The code involved choosing when transactions were ready to interface, creating the GL entries for the transactions and loading the transactions into the legacy financial system.
  • For Almancenes Siman, San Salvador El Salvador, I was the technical lead and financial expert. This included designing and implementing two stock ledgers. The first was similar to a North American standard stock ledger and the second was for governmental reporting to the multiple countries where Siman had stores and warehouses.
  • Designed and developed a system where two different weighted average cost were maintained. The first was the base RMS was by location and item. The second was by item and country of sale by day.
  • Designed a system where the government reporting stock ledger could run on the Gregorian calendar while the internal stock ledger ran on the National Retail Federation (NRF) 4 - 5-4 calendar. Also designed the interface, totals and business rules for ReSA.
  • For Gordman s I was the technical lead and for a period of time the project manager. As project manager, I developed and ran the project plan in Microsoft Project. I assigned work schedules and followed up with the team regarding completion and milestone dates. I also prepared the status reports and weekly dashboard.
  • For Gordman s as the technical lead, I either designed or helped design almost every interface both on the Oracle Retail side and on Gordman s legacy side. I designed and developed a custom Pro*C module to inject new items with UPCs and cost from Hallmark. The module also updated existing items and created cost changes for the items.
  • For Reitman s Canada and Sears Canada, I designed a system that kept promotions up to date when those promotions used dynamic or criteria based item lists. In Oracle Retail, once a list of items has been used to build a promotion, the items assigned to the promotion can never change even though the items within the list will change over time. Based on the original item list criteria, the module I created would add or remove items from the promotion dynamically.

  • I was the SME for Costing and Weighted Average Cost (WAC) within RMS. I created designs for mass update of WAC. I designed a modification to the module that creates future cost projections. I worked with the accounting department regarding transaction codes within RMS and their mapping to General Ledger (GL) accounts. Also worked with accounting to understand WAC since they had previously used standard FIFO costing.
  • For Maverick Business Forms, Longview Texas, I took a custom web/Java application that another group had been working on for six years and brought it into production within a year. I rewrote large sections of the Java code that either did not satisfy the business requirements or that caused the code to abort. Used Java, the PostgreSQL database, JSP, javascript, HTML, the Glassfish application server and various Korn Shell scripts to make the application work.
  • For the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P), Montvale New Jersey, I was the technical lead and lead designer for a system to convert Pathmark data into A&P’s Oracle Retail System. A&P acquired Pathmark. In order to allow users to match items from Pathmark to existing A&P systems we create screens to link the Pathmark items to the A&P equivalent. Also created a system to automatically ingest the retail prices from Pathmark into prices for the A&P Oracle Retail System.
  • Also for A&P I helped design, build and implement the interface from Oracle Retail into Softechnics Soft Grocer store level management system.
  • For Borders Group Incorporated, Ann Arbor Michigan, I redesigned the interface for transfer and receipt data for Borders return center. The interface that was live at the time lost between ten and twenty percent of transactions making the valuation of inventory difficult.
  • For Borders, I also designed and coded a specific module to correct transfer and receipt data. This module was used to correct practically every type of transfer and transfer receipt in order to reconcile the Oracle Retail system with physical inventories.
  • For Moran Foods (Save-a-Lot) Saint Louis Missouri, I was the engagement manager and the RMS SME. I worked closely with the client to anticipate future needs and assign BLT Soft staff to appropriate projects. I worked with the PMO contractor to develop the three-year project plan for the implementation of Oracle Retail. We used Microsoft Project to implement the plan. I also contributed in the areas of design and trouble-shooting.
  • Also for Moran Foods, I installed and taught Active Retail Intelligence (ARI). Helped design business rules in ARI to automate workflows within Moran’s Oracle Retail system.
  • For Radio Shack in Fort Worth Texas I was the lead technical analyst on a project to switch from standard cost accounting to WAC. We also were implemented landed costs and the RMS stock ledger. I designed the conversion process from standard cost to WAC in PL/SQL packages.
  • For the Naval Exchange Service Command (Nexcom) in Virginia Beach Virginia I developed and managed the project plan for wave one of the Oracle Retail implementation. I also led the first wave of design and development of interfaces and custom modifications to Oracle Retail. I developed the initial project plan for implementation of Oracle’s Store Inventory Management (SIM).
  • For Nexcom I was the system architect and technical lead. I designed and redesigned significant portions of the item conversion project. I also performed significant performance tuning on the conversion reducing the time from weeks to three days.
  • Also for Nextom I helped set up ARI and trained the client’s technical people how to use the tool. I helped design and develop a major rule in ARI for workflow of purchase orders.
  • For Michaels Arts and Crafts, Irving Texas, I designed and developed an interface from E3 systems tore replenishment software to the Oracle Retail purchase order system in PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, Pro*C and Korn Shell scripts. I also designed and developed an interface from the E3 warehouse replenishment system into Oracle Retail purchase order system in PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, Pro*C and Korn Shell scripts.
  • I designed and developed interfaces from Oracle Retail to: The McHugh-Freeman warehouse system, the proprietary store system, the Sterling Gentran EDI translator, the in-house logistics system, purchase order and PO receipt data to PeopleSoft financials and a direct interface of import order data from RMS to a consolidator and freight forwarder.
  • For Michaels I designed and developed receipt interfaces into Oracle Retail for both store receipts and warehouse receipts. I added significant performance turning which reduced the time need to process receipts from 1.5 hours down to 15 minutes.
  • For Family Dollar Stores, Matthews North Carolina, I designed and developed a system to dynamically set the minimum and maximum stock values for Oracle Retail automated replenishment. The system uses sales history to determine current sales trends and seasonality for items.
  • For Family Dollar I was responsible for the business requirements, conceptual design, test design, test execution, training and some code development for the purchase order (PO) conversion, PO interfaces and ARI PO management workflow.
  • For Family Dollar I designed and tested the interface from RMS into the proprietary store system. I also designed an extract from RMS PO to EDI.
  • For Motel 6, Carrollton Texas, I researched, designed and developed a system for user laptops that allowed field auditors to conduct motel level audits. The laptops were then connected via VPN to the master Oracle database to replicate the audit data.
  • For Zale, Irving Texas, I rewrote the batch compensation software for Zale. I converted an SQR based system into PL/SQL packages and Pro*C. By tuning the SQL used I was able to reduce run time by a factor of ten.

The system used Oracle*Forms, PL/SQL, Oracle 7, and Pro*C to create a unified process for ordering from hand - held computers. The system began with the user scanning a UPC bar-code for merchandise on the store floor
  • The form would then display information about on-hand quantity, in-stock quantity, on-order quantity, and item sales. The user could then enter an order quantity for the item, which was saved to the database. At night, a Pro*C program transmitted the order to headquarters.

  • As Manager Computer Operations, Software Development, and Database Management Systems, I created a flight model in C and FORTRAN languages on a Sun workstation for a Navy simulation project
  • This software simulated five - degree-of-freedom flight dynamics for an F-18 fighter jet. The software was part of a system used to generate and update high-resolution, real-time, high fidelity situation displays needed to remotely pilot unmanned aerial vehicles. The project was the first step in proof of concept to show the ability to display digital images in real-time that would allow remotely piloting a complex air vehicle.

  • Created a computer hardware and software solution to provide for the combination, tracking, reporting, and analysis of reliability and maintainability data from diverse mainframe systems. The mainframe systems tracked test and maintenance data on systems such as the NEXRAD radar and the F-16 fighter jet.
