Responsibilities:

  • Teh DataLand Architecture within Florida Blue involves a hybrid approach consisting of Big Data technologies and RDBMS, and is layered into Enterprise Staging, Enterprise ODS, Historical and Analytical layers. Staging primarily uses HDP Hadoop technologies, teh ODS consists of RDBMS (DB2 LUW) and MongoDB, and teh Historical layer uses DB2 Temporal feature. Teh vision is to create an SSOT (teh eODS) and eventually to use teh Hadoop layer for Staging and Analytics as well as Data Science.
  • Data Flow (ETL) within different layers is handled using SQOOP, Hive, Pig, SPARK, as well as SFTP to local folders and copied into HDFS Folders.
  • HDFS Design: Raw, Interim and Final folders are created for every domain/project. Raw is used as pure Staging with Hive External tables built on top of it. Depending on Analytical or Transactional needs, teh Final tables are built in either Hive or HBase. Hive Partitioning and Bucketing is implemented based on teh need. Security is implemented on Final using Apache Ranger at different granularities, in tandem with AD groups.
