Confidential,This system was a typical inventory management system for a solar heater manufacturer and its dealers. This was a semi-automated system to a fully automated system. In the existing system the manufacturer and the dealers had different systems installed, in the sense the data processing was not centralized. The dealer has to send a manual request to replenish his inventory. Once he gets the water heaters, he/she has to update his records manually. From the manufacturer’s perspective, when the dealer send a inventory replenishing order it takes some time to process and send the products. Meantime, customers change their minds to either cancel the order or to postpone the order indefinitely. This system eliminated this particular discrepancy by centralizing the data processing, report generation etc.
