  • Created a data governance roadmap for a health provider. MVP Health Care, a $10B multistate healthcare provider network, engaged New Bold to develop a comprehensive, long-term data management strategy. Recruited as a key member of the team. Devised solutions for ACA compliance, SLR, automation, data warehousing, Cloud/virtualization, business intelligence, reporting, EDI and analysis. Provided a release pathway for MVP to gain a competitive edge by reducing costs, streamlining claims management, controlling IT risk management and ensuring regulatory compliance. MVP and New Bold are currently finalizing details of the program.
  • Directed an EDW migration, boosting performance for financial services client. A $10B commercial and investment banking firm came to Mattila for guidance in replacing an outdated DB2-based data warehouse. Designed and managed $12 million migration to a Netezza Enterprise Data Warehouse platform. Directing a team of ten consultants and 50 other professionals, reengineered reporting and analytics solutions. Delivered the one-year project on budget (financial tracking and forecasting) and ahead of schedule. Improved client satisfaction and system acceptance 40 points to more 95%. Sorry, I signed a non-Disclosure agreement.
  • Turned around a stalled SAP & data warehouse program. BB&T was far behind schedule on replacement of a legacy mainframe system and implementation of a new EDW & SAP solution, having missed several go-live dates. Brought in by Bay Force to drive the troubled program to completion. Directed a team of 20 ETL programmers in three cities. Managed all release phases of the program from reengineering the project plan, staffing and schedule to data governance, testing and validation. Directed 1,000+ flawless ETL jobs, successfully migrating all Release Implementations(2) 1 GL, SAP HCM, MDM Release 2 Sub Ledger, A/P, credit card, asset accounting, Release 3 sales/use tax and Release 4 other data into SAP.   • Led 80 in-house and offshore professionals. Created 100+ instances and related infrastructure, including seamless mobile device support. Enabled retirement of costly AS400 systems and migration to a scalable Netezza reporting environment across all 200 Sysco operating companies globally. Dramatically improved functionality, accessibility, reliability, and user friendliness/satisfaction while slashing maintenance costs in half, saving $1M annually.

Designed and Developed a new platform from the ground up in a six-month $500K program to support a new regionalized supply chain paradigm.
  • Created a game-changing process for optimizing management of SKUs based on critical parameters such as shelf life, cost reduction and demand. Enabled high efficiency FTL shipments, saving tens of million of dollars annually in transport costs alone.
