 Lead Programmer & Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Developed three complete applications: 1. Inventory Management System. 2. Consignment and Delivery Management System. 3. Supplier Module. Replaced the existing legacy system (IBM Mainframe, XBMS) handling Consignment and Inventory in Xerox. Designed and Implemented a Client Server application in place of the current system, using Visual Basic 4.0, Oracle 7.0 and Access 2.0. Wrote several C++ functions to facilitate the communication and data transfer between the IBM Mainframe and the Oracle 7.0 database.
  • This involved detail research of the current processes, discussions with material planner, buyer, Xerox’s internal and external vendors, and warehouse supervisors. Used Access 2.0 and Oracle 7.0 to design and implement a data model. Used Visual Basic 4.0 to design and implement a GUI front end. Tested, documented, provided training and support on the developed client server system. Ninety percent of the development of these three systems was performed by myself.
  • Inventory Management System: This Visual Basic 4.0 application consists of about 40 forms, with complete menus and toolbars. Primarily used in the warehouse where receiving and issuing of materials are processed. It also enabled the transactions such as inventory transfer, relocation, adjustments, corrections, reports and inquiries. This application was designed to be implemented in four different warehouses nationwide. It would update an Oracle database in the local warehouse, a common central OMF Oracle database located in Rochester NY. This module is currently in production.
  • Consignment And Delivery Management System: This Visual Basic 4.0 application consists of about 25 forms with complete menus and toolbars. This application was used to track consignment of Xerox parts to external internal vendors. Transaction such as shipment of material to suppliers, tracking WIP scrap and excess, adjustment, finished goods and editing SODM and PO were possible using this application. It also included inquiries and reports. This application was designed to be implemented in a central location in Rochester NY and it updated a local OMF Oracle database. This module is currently in production.
  • Supplier Module: This Visual Basic 4.0 application was designed to be installed at each vendor so that it would communicate with the consignment system that I developed. This module consists of about 10 forms that allowed transaction such as material receipts, WIP scrap reported, received, excess scrap reported, received, finished goods, history of transactions, tracking supplier information and reports.
  • Also accomplished a connection, command and data transfer between Visual Basic 4.0 and IBM Mainframe 3270.

Environment: Visual Basic 4.0, Oracle, MS Access, Some Sql Server 6.0, VBA.

 Programmer Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Cincom Systems develops manufacturing applications and is a competitor to SAP.
  • Involved in the development and debugging of Visual Basic 3.0 applications called Planner Workbench, an application used by Material Planner in manufacturing firms. This is a complete software with menu bar, toolbar, complex, drag and drop features with about 50 forms with extensive use of True Grid custom control. This application was designed for use in different countries and different languages - All displayed text would be in the native language.
  • Involved in the creation, development and debugging of a Visual Basic 3.0 software package called INLO Translation Tool. This software is used for translating English text contained in other applications labels, menus and error messages into different languages.
  • It is used as an internal tool for accessing an Access 2.0 database, modifying and entering data, and printing reports via Crystal Reports. It is a package with complete menu bar and menu items with True Grid control to display and modify data.
  • Involved in modifying and debugging of Visual Basic 3.0 software packages called Design Wizard and OLE Wizard. These packages are for internal use for the construction of applications. Referred to as GUI tools, these GUI software packages provided an interface for designing the GUI for applications and also generated standard code for each application.
  • Also involved in the construction and testing of four other manufacturing applications. Each application forms a part of a huge manufacturing software. Each application uses OLE objects to access server database data via ODBC. Each application was designed to be used in different countries in their native language. Created VB setup programs and installation disks for VB applications.
  • Involved in data modeling, created entities and their attributes, and normalized data following the three normal forms. Wrote stored procedures and triggers. Used PL/SQL, SQL Forms. Used ODBC to access Oracle server database residing on UNIX.
