Business/Quality Analyst
Responsibilities:
- The Option Symbology Initiative (OSI) is a plan to overhaul the existing method of identifying Exchange-listed option contracts, base on the approach set by the OCC, that as of February 12, 2010 there will no longer by an option symbol in its current format.
- There will be an elimination of alpha codes (OPRA symbol) that denote call/put, fractional strike prices and contract expiration information. It will be replaced with explicit data that uniquely identifies each contract with actual expiration dates (including day) and decimal strike price values.
- The new industry definition will create a Data Series that is represented by 4 key data elements to explicitly identify an Option Contract. This Option Data Series will consist of symbol, contract date, call/put indicator, and strike price. This change provides the ability to easily identify the details of an Option Contract, without the need to convert the expiration price, type or month from an embedded alphabetical code.
- Worked on the IBG (Independent Brokerage Group) Compensation and Billing System which used the Options Symbol in output trade files. The system obtained this information from data warehouse and stores it in its own database schema.
- Following are the different/essential steps which were the basic part of my job during OSI project towards the sub firm’s primary or secondary contacts and their Vendors:
- Checking of the accuracy of the test trade detail file’s format
- Setting up the test lab and test plan in using Quality Center.
- Running test scripts to check if the data is as per the requirement needed by the third party (Sub Firm).
- Reporting and coordinating bugs with technical team.
- Making sure from sub firm’s correspondents (primary/secondary technology contacts) whether they have any test environment or not. If they don’t have any test environment, explain them the need of it and help them creating one, if users do not have infrastructure for test environment making sure that they do not use/run any of these test trade detail files in production
- Contacting the central file distribution (CFD) team to transmit the files to respective subfirms.
- Contacting the primary technology contact and the vendor (if applicable) of the sub firms and letting them know about the transmission of the test trade detail file towards them through CFD two days ahead of time and helping them in testing the trade file.
- Keeping phone and email contact with correspondents till they actually receive and run these test trade detail files in their systems
- Reporting the details to higher management on day to day basis.
