  • Confidential has a product called Producer Support System PSS . This product has end to end features of Producer management, encompassing producer portal, producer onboarding, licensing and appointments, and commission management. As part of this project, Ebix is implementing PSS at LMI. This is a green field project in which I was sent as a consultant on staff augmentation to analyze LMI's business processes and to write business requirements while aligning them with the product PSS . In the first phase of the project I worked with the end users and SMEs to understand LMI's business processes. Here I suggested innovative ideas to optimize the business processes and to save cost to LMI. I also helped in streamlining the project processes along with the Ebix program manager at LMI.
  • After eliciting LMI's business requirements, I came back to India to get the delta requirements i.e. requirements that were not there in the product implemented for LMI. Now I am working very closely with the development team, the QA team, and the clients to get the requirements implemented. Currently we have implemented drop 1 and drop 2 producer onboarding, licensing and appointments and are heading towards drop 3 commission management implementation. To increase the accuracy of calculation of commissions in drop 3, I have also donned the role of a developer, writing business rules in Drools. This has led to a decrease in the total number of development resources thereby reducing the costs and increasing the efficacy of the delivery. My ability to look at the project in a holistic manner and pitch in wherever required has been deeply appreciated by the Ebix management.

I worked as an offshore business analyst for this project. I closely worked with the clients and the onsite business analyst to develop functional specifications for the Enterprise Architect. I got client appreciation for understanding the business requirements thoroughly and carrying out the entire functional specifications work from offshore and presenting it to the client team over VOIP.

2. Writing test scenarios for UAT

BRP was one of the major implementations in Keane for one of its biggest clients, Orange. Orange was upgrading their legacy systems built by Keane to BRM, a flagship product of Oracle for telecommunication billing and tariff management. As part of this project, Keane was supposed to write test scenarios and test cases and send them to Orange so that they could test the BRM application with those scenarios and make sure the to-be BRM worked the same way as the as-is legacy systems. My job here was to make the senior management team understand the BRM system. Additionally, I also wrote test scenarios which served as a baseline for the testing team to write test cases.

Assurant handles all the Lender placed property insurance activities of Ocwen. There is a system called RealServicing which enables all these activities. A lot of enhancements were being made to fill up existing process gaps and to create new processes to make RealServicing more efficient. This was a special project for me as I almost managed the entire project single handedly, since the project manager was managing 4 projects at once. I oversaw the project right from the estimates to writing the business requirements to explaining them to the developers, getting them implemented, and finally fixing the defects that came up in the UAT.
