- Resolved a critical manufacturing issue at a vendor location. Machining tools were being damaged during the manufacture of aluminum heatsinks. The manufacturing engineers suggested slowing the cutting speeds as a work-around which resulted in more broken tooling. The problem threatened to halt the production of our consumer desktops’ Christmas computer production.
- Researched the issue to learn the best approach was to speed up the tooling. The increased speeds would improve machinability and increase parts delivery. Result: The vendor accepted our recommendation; the issue was resolved; enabled our vendor to exceed our demand requirements and we achieved our manufacturing goals.(Compaq 1998)
- Worked with a customer to change his buying patterns. The customer was repeatedly buying small quantities of custom (heat treated, and cut) products. Suggested that the company order larger quantities, enabling us to reduce the average unit cost. We stored the product on site and shipped as required. Result: The new arrangement improved our profitability, lowered the customer’s unit cost and gave the customer more flexibility.(Samuel 2005)
- Developed supply chain models to simulate the dynamics, and economics associated with supporting customer service levels, and inventory levels to resolve deployment issues between Singapore, Scotland and Houston. Result: The models enabled management to assess the risks and establish optimal inventory levels.
