Software Engineer /Stress Test Lead

Responsibilities:

Strategic planning and managing of Confidential software stress testing, managing on and offshore teams, inside and outside racks, test tools development and selection, test plans optimization.
Architecture, design and development of multi-threaded application that can detect the internet connection lab-widely (>6000 STBs). It utilizes both network port forwarding technology and Confidential ’s Confidential functionality to make the network connectivity detection under different private networks possible, and provides a user friendly quick summary of failed STBs. This project saved tremendous man-hours on testing compared to the old ping method
Design and development of Set Top Box ( Confidential ) Performance Test Automation System that enables accurately measure an Confidential ’s performance - the time it takes to process a subset of IR remote control commands, on channel change, trick play, guide scrolling, etc. The application has been heavily used for any new Confidential product testing.
Designed and implemented the database of Advanced Installation Meter (AIM) for Space Engineering, utilizing SQLite as portable database system to store satellite data, PHP and batch files to auto process source data. AIM project was a huge success and received a patent award.
Project management of stress lab’s Central Automation. Act as the primary technical lead to communicate between vendors and upper management, write requirement document, answer/ask technical questions, and screen proposals.
Architecture, design and development of multi-threading and high scalable LNB Voltage Monitor that detect and report if any Confidential ’s LNB voltage is out of range, utilizes Agilent Multifunction Switch/Measure Unit to connect and scan STBs. The design is very flexible and highly scalable that it can be easily adding more racks and other types of hardware tests like temperature, current, etc. It’s now being used as “HS17 Random Reset Detector”
Designed and implemented a stress test application that utilizing RedRat IR signals and allowing users to simulate remote control and configure different Confidential tests. This application has become the stress test foundation that is being used both inside and outside company
Designed and implemented an Advance Program Guide databases for live testing using Linux and Oracle, and wrote shell scripts for automation.
Provide mentoring and training for testing groups
Designed and developed a database that is the DBA for Video Anomaly Detection (VAD) system for detecting frozen videos and black screens. This is a web-based application that allows users to schedule jobs, run tests and retrieve results. VAD utilizes Aventura DVR and REST API and is capable of detecting, logging and reporting pre-defined types of video anomalies associated with Confidential functional problems.
