Crystal Reports Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Intuition is a records management company that manages the Florida College Prepaid and Investment Tuiition Plans. Crystal Reports was used in converting the letters from Crystal 8.5 and Microsoft Word into Crystal XI. The letter process began with a file that was created from the Tandem system. This file was then used by the Letter Writer Application, to import the file into an SQL table
  • The Crystal report/letter was then linked to the SQL table. For the Prepaid letters, each letter had its on individual table and for the Investment letters there was one table for all of the Investment letters. The Letter Writer Application was also used for printing and archiving a copy of the letter. SQL procedures were developed for updating the SQL table by either adding fields or changing the field names.
  • Software Development - The Systems team developed, updated processes and procedures by Phases. Phase1 would be for Enrollment, Phase 2 was for Cancellations and Payments, and Phase 3 was for Matriculation. The Letter Team, of which I was the Developer, was a group of 4 from the Systems Team.

Programmer Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • I was hired as a MUMPS programmer to create reports from a UNIX system (1998-2003). MUMPS was used in a Cache environment. Reports were created according to users specifications. There would be an initial meeting, in which timelines were setup for programming, testing by the user, BA testing and a final completion date.
  • 2003 - 2009 Create reports using MS SQL Server database by creating stored procedures
  • Crystal Reports was used to link to the SQL procedure and create the report. There was a NEXTGEN system for the Medical staff and a QNXT system for the Insurance. Both were Microsoft SQL Server Databases. Nightly extracts updated the backup databases. Once reports were completed, the reports were placed on a file server where the users had access to run them
  • The SQL procedure used parameters and had the capability of using a single table or multiple tables by joining them. Also, some reports were set up to be run on a schedule. The last 6 months I learned the basics for Microsoft Analysis Services/OLAP programming, the building of cubes and how Excel with Pivot Tables was used to retrieve info from the cubes.
  • Worked with users when they had problems running a report, using either MUMPS or SQL and with the DBA when the users needed access to a specific database. Reason For Leaving: Advance my Crystal Reports knowledge

  • Monitor online and backup Transaction Systems for the Florida Lottery on Cyber 932 systems and HP RISC 6000 systems. Provided transaction tapes to the state. Update logs, run reports
  • Overnight processing after systems were brought down at midnight and were readied for the next day. Tested the software for new games, matrix changes for games and promotions. This testing knowledge gave me the opportunity to go to Arizona and Maryland, when AWI was awarded those contracts.
  • Updated logs for the off-site facility, where system backup tapes were stored, in case of a disaster.
  • Software Development- When the State wanted a new game or changes to an existing game or promotions
  • The programming staff in New Jersey would create the software and send to Tallahassee for the operators to test. I would test with other Operators and any problems or issues would then be reported to the Senior Operator. He would then contact programming staff in New Jersey and get an answer when the fix would be sent back to Tallahassee for us to test and complete AWI testing
  • The State would perform their testing. Then a date for moving the software into Production was established and then it was moved to production.
