Senior QA Analyst
Renton, WA
Responsibilities:
- I was brought in to assist the company during an IPO and company re-org.
- The company originally had no organized QA team and had only initially hired the first tester in late 2007 and subsequently a couple more development testers to write automation and the company was primarily using iMac machines and only 1-2 employees used Windows.
- Company public status required a formal QA team and processes put into place.
- In additional to leading and working on 20 projects I also created the Confidential .com website which included a complete project management system that linked all the projects to various test strategies(analysis of the best approach for testing a project outlining manual and automated tools to be used for white and black box coverage) and test plans (White - Black - Functional - Formal - etc) - daily and weekly reports - manual test cases - automated test cases - other automated tools used on the project - bug databases - risk analysis - release docs - post mortem docs etc.
- I designed two types of template projects for use when creating new projects, one for the traditional software development life cycle and the other using an agile SDLC each included general tasks and estimated hours for those tasks to be added.
- Uploaded over 24 different free/low-cost automated tools for website testing/performance-load-stress testing/functional testing/regression testing and put them in to use.
- Created a complete test plan/test case/test report/test review/test release automated template system customized for each new project which could consist of anywhere from 1-2hours of testing to 6 months or more of testing.
- After purchasing Netmechanic on my own and having the site checked and then I showed the horrific results report to management and finding major security leaks I was able to make some major changes. I implemented the use of Functional - Technical specs and Design documents which had not been in existence prior to my start date and provided template examples for Project Management.
- I evangelized that QA no longer report to development where historically it had no effect and moved the team to report to Technical Services and required PM and Dev provide documentation and that QA be part of the Sign-Off of all projects.
- The tech services director was able to get 4 new job slots for QA Analysts/Testers and actually get QA elevated to a respected level once major results were gained quickly and proven to management.
