ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Confidential, REDMOND, WA

Responsibilities:

  • Executed test cases to verify and validate software and hardware designs on Tesla touch input and new products prototype projects.
  • Setting up oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs function generators, logic probes and test fixtures together with the unit-under-test for manual testing to collect data.
  • Tests performed to validate I/O interfaces (IC2, USB, GPIB, SPI, Wi-Fi, BT) and system clock, reading from and writing to ports/memory.
  • Performed tests measuring electrical parameters for signal common-mode rejection, leakage current, and hi-pot testing.
  • Performed data acquisition testing using NI’s software and data analysis through LabVIEW. Post-testing/validation cycle participation to provide feedback to help improving the designs.
  • Performed analysis requiring scientific knowledge and laboratory techniques to build and test mechanical models and electrical circuits and assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair testing fixtures and equipment out of calibration/tolerance. SMT PCBs rework and imaging PCs.
  • Assisted in building automated testing rack system.

RESEARCH/ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Confidential, RENTON, WA

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities included finding and investigating unique mathematical abstracts to extract their unique mathematical properties and components.
  • The mathematical properties and components are then applied to a specific physical quantity, such as an electrical signal to yield distinct characteristics that resulted in new ideas and applications in electrical engineering.
  • Used MATLAB and written C++ programs to model, simulate and test mathematical models. Worked on other projects such as VLSI neural network IC, AC/DC motor-generator system software controls, and BJT amplifier.
  • Performed various electrical tests (open-circuit, short-circuit, resistive-load, capacitive-load) on a motor-generator system to determine the electrical (voltage, power, current, resistance) and mechanical (torque, RPM) parameters of the system. The system can now be characterized by these parameters. A BASIC software program was written incorporating these parameters and interfaced to the Intel-emulated microprocessor hardware to simulate and control the motor-generator system via software.
  • A 200-MHz Bandwidth Bi-polar Junction Transistor Amplifier. Using the manufacturer’s datasheet, I-V characteristic curves for the Q222 transistors, the quiescent operating point was carefully selected to ensure proper voltage signal swings and a linear region mode of operation.
  • The values of biasing resistors were chosen to give the voltage gain for that amplifier stage. The emitter-follower model was used to give the best characteristics and response to the design requirements. The overall gain and bandwidth were achieved cascading amplifier stages. The design was simulated using PSPICE and implemented through PCB-fabrication etching processes.
  • The PCB was then tested for the required 100x gain with a 200MHz bandwidth response specifications.
  • Programming languages and skills: C#, Visual Studio, PowerShell, Arduino microcontrollers, PCB prototyping and fabrication. Buck-Boost SMP.
