  • I am part of the Body In White Advanced Manufacturing Engineering department, under the Virtual Manufacturing Delivery team.
  • My role is to support Manufacturing Engineering and Production Operations by employing virtual manufacturing techniques to prove manufacturing feasibility, enabling robust design and manufacturing assembly prior to component manufacture.

  • After one year designing I was recommended to be a BIW Virtual Simulation Engineer.
  • I had to make sure that all elements designed and inserted into a semi or completely automatized work cell or area, together with the industrial robots that are welding/riveting and/or manipulating are working correctly.
  • We use this kind of simulation also for testing assembly sequence, part clearances, tooling clearances, cycle time and reducing the cycle time as much as possible, to choose the correct robot, gun or tool to cooperate with the layout designers and mechanical tool designers and also to assure the safety and ergonomics of any human operator that is present in the area.

  • Designing the equipment’s and devices for body welding/riveting and assembly lines in the automotive industry. 3D concepts and 2D technical drawings.
  • As a 2D Detail Engineer my responsibility it was to make technical drawings and documentations (detailing, assembly drawing, geometrical tolerance, bill of materials, layout and general assembly) for the designed elements so they can be executed correctly according to the requirements.
