  • Researched light and tissue interaction, methods for measuring optical properties of tissues based on transmitted, reflected and scattered intensities. Used beam - splitting method for measuring total attenuation of light by skin-like phantoms (i.e. poly-acrylamide gel). Built integrating-sphere-based test setups for measuring absorption, angular dependence of scattering and double-integrating sphere geometry for the simultaneous measurement of different optical properties; transmitted coherent intensity, transmitted diffuse intensity and reflected diffuse intensity. Computed absorption and scattering characteristics of light based on mathematical models of radiative transport equation (i.e. Kubelka-Munk). Investigated changes in absorption and scattering coefficients due to laser exposure.
