Responsibilities:

  • I was placed in a special Subsea Engineer group that consisted of less than 24 engineers to go on separate rigs and assist in special needs that couldn’t be accomplished with the usual personnel on board for either not having enough knowledge or the job needed to be completed in a short period of time. As a Subsea Engineer my role was to help maintain, observe, and to train the individuals on board the safest and correct way to work on all subsea equipment. I was responsible for assisting in preparing BOP for launching, from pressure testing to complete tear down and rebuild of any part on a BOP and locating all well information for set up of hydrostatic and surface pressures. Trained and assisted in maintaining high pressure unit to working specs, diverter panel, fluid reservoir unit and all surface equipment related to the BOP.
  • Worked with Direct Riser Tensioners, Wireline Riser Tensioners, and Active Heave Compensator systems, maintain proper working specification and setting up the proper functionality of equipment depending on water current and riser angle and assist in any needs to ToolPusher and Driller for making jobs safer and more efficient.   • Assist and prepare riser joints for rundown, ensured that all bolts, seals, sealing areas, buoyancy packets are in proper working conditions. Prepared all tools for proper torque of bolts on riser joints.
  • Assisted subsea personnel on board to maintain choke and kill manifold, ensure that all valves are working correctly and perform any overhaul if needed and to assist driller in any situation when needed.

Lead BOP Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • As a Lead Tester I was to make sure that all the equipment on the BOP Stack functioned correctly.
  • I managed four employees. Any problems or issues that came upon during the FAT test (factory acceptance test) was my duty to trouble shoot and make it function correctly, from crossed functions, leaks, the wellhead connector, my job was to make sure that this equipment work perfectly.
  • I worked with JDE Edwards a software program to find parts that I needed to rebuild the equipment.
  • I mastered at reading schematic drawings, assembly drawings and understanding any form of procedures familiar to the process of building, functionality, and testing of any equipment.
  • Assemble and breakdown, rebuild and replace all BOP Stacks components. Rebuild regulators, SPM valves, 1 1/2 - 2" ball valves, shear seals valves, shuttle valves, check valves, and re-ran tubing.
  • I worked with MMI and QNX software
  • Maintained HPU to its proper working configurations. Made sure that the glycol/water mixture was in its proper specs.
