  • In every occasion, I thrived to achieve or exceed every goal set out for me by my Supervisor, and in many instances by myself. I would like to list below some of the projects I took the lead on, in order to facilitate the understanding of what my daily tasks while working there.
  • Configured a Nagios monitoring virtual server on a free operating system (gnu/Linux CentOS) which alerts the IS department of any server, switches, or website issues that might arise during working and non - working hours. The alerts are received via email or text messages for those times when there is nobody around in the data center. This implementation saved the company a great deal of money on maintenance cost by replacing a commercial application named Confidential . It has also permitted to resolve problems before the staff arrived at the centers, again saving money and lost production time.
  • Designed an MRTG bandwidth graphing virtual server on a free operating system (gnu/Linux CentOS), which allowed the IS Department to monitor the bandwidth consumption for every site, interface, and port on all network equipment. Commercial application with this capabilities cost a tremendous amount of money. This system allowed the IT staff to quickly identify any bottleneck happening at the network level
  • Replaced some old, Ultra-gateway servers (Dicom images gateway) with free open source DCM4CHEE servers. This replacement saved top dollars to the company on maintenance costs.
  • Provisioned a virtual server on a free operating system (gnu/Linux CentOS) used to scan yearly all network devices for vulnerabilities (openVAS). After the scans were performed. the reports were used to patch these flaws on all devices attached to the network. A service like this would cost tenths of thousand of dollars if hiring an external consultant.
  • Created a Windows Deployment server that can deploy corporate images to computers in fraction of time compared to what would take to install the operating system on each of them individually. I personally used it to image more than a 130 computers during a major Radiology Information System upgrade
  • Used a free, open source software to encrypt every laptop in use in the organization, saving a great deal of money to the company.
  • Introduced the IS Department to server virtualization, and converted many physical servers to virtual servers saving money to the company in power and cooling costs, and also achieving a high rate of server consolidation.
  • Conceived and performed a full migration from an old and dying Confidential network storage device to other network storage devices. More than 20 terabyte of data successfully migrated.
  • Maintained storage resources, and performed several storage devices upgrades. Always provisioned storage for medical images in advance to allow for a continue and smooth operation.
  • Maintained the overall server, computer and network security, including managing the Antivirus solution. I was always the first responder in case of an infection or breach
  • Successfully migrated Active Directory operational level domain from windows 2000 to a 2003 domain, and later to a 2012 domain.
  • Took the lead on performing the migration from Windows XP machines to the newer Windows 7 including creating the corporate OS images for the deployment.
